Smell of gas??

So I just picked up my 99 GTP a couple days ago. A lot of times when I walk up to the car, I get the hint of gas. Now I don't see the "rainbow" on the wet ground that you'd see if gas was leaking. But tonight I did smell it inside the car. Prev owner didn't say anything about changing fuel pump. I guess I'm going to have to check there first. Anyone else ever have this issue? Any ideas where to check?
 


do you have the CEL on? i changed mine and the CEL came on. also remove the inspection plate in the trunk its 10mm bolts theres 7 of them.
 
check the quick disconnects on the fuel rail on top of the supercharger. the O rings get old and they leak. you can change the O rings inside if they are leaking.

they tend to leak after the car is turned off. and there will be a brown stain under the line if its leaking on the sc.

only because i lived through the exact same thing. bought the car kept smelling gas, found it wet and leaking after i shut the car off. nice brown stain on the sc from the gas leak.

truth is i was worried it would burn after i walked away for the night.
 


Exactly my worry. And the fact that my daughter will be in this car and I don't want any sudden fires/explosions while I'm driving with her in it. lol
 
Well, I must have been jinxed after the talk of the CEL. It came on this morning on the way to work. Guess I'll be getting it scanned after work. I'll update you guys on what code(s) it's throwing.
 
Ok so I got the P0420 (cat innefective) code. So I'd say that's legit considering I have no cat. lol
 




Well got it on a lift today. The prev owner jacked the fuel lines up that run between the pump and the filter. The connections have all been changed and they leak like friggin crazy. Of course GM doesn't make those lines anymore and no auto parts stores sell em. Heading to U Pull tomorrow to see if we can find some in good shape. if not, guess we have to "make" some lines. Just my luck.
