SLP header question

I just bought a used set of SLP headers for my 2000 Grand Prix GT. I haven't got them yet but wanted to know what I need so I can order it does anyone know if you need an o2 extension wire? The car is a GT but I top swapped so it has the GT wire harness if that makes a difference in length.

I think the o2 bung is in the crossover on those, but don't quote me on that. If it is, then you do not need the o2 extension.

Factory header/manifold gaskets are metal, so re-use those as they are the best.

Other than that I can't think of anything, they should bolt up just fine.

I just looked on the 3800 performance website and the o2 bung is right before the flex pipe. I read there description and in small print it says o2 extension included in the install kit just not in the pic. Do you know where I can get one besides zzp?

Bung is right befor the flex for sure.

Tough to tell you what you'll need if we don't know what's coming with them. Often sellers will include clamps and extensions etc.

It doesn't come with an o2 extension that's all I was wondering I have everything else. Does anyone have one they want to sell?

you can cut the plug off the cars harness, then add 3 foot of wire to it, via solder and shrink tubes. then run the plug to the strut town and down to the rack then to the o2 so its got no chance of melting on the header.

Yea I honestly thought about doing that I solder all the time about 3 feet to route it better your saying? Even if I buy the harness extension it should be longer is what your saying?

that harness they sell could be longer. lots of times they melt on the header.

this is mine, i got brake lines and crap to zip tie it to, but it dropped to the rack, then followed the rack to the o2 sensor. free and clear of the header pipes 100%.

Okay thanks man. Yea I have a strut tower brace I can secure it to I thought about just extending the wires on the o2 sensor so I can just do it on the work bench. Do you know what gauge wire I need? If I just add 3 ft I'll be good? I was going to do it before I install the headers is why I ask.

the o2 wires to its plug, one is stainless steel, its a ground, solder wont take to it.

the cars harness, all the wires are copper.

best to extend it from the cars harness.

i got a 10 foot roll of wire cut it into 3 equal parts. i forget what gauge it was. iirc its 3 wires lol its been a while.

Hey Scott I was wondering do you use rtv on the exhaust manifold gaskets? Or just use them how they are? I'm using some felpro gaskets.

return them gaskets. re use the stock metal ones on the car now. they are the best gasket to use.

i used no rtv on any part of my headers. i also used band clamps on the cross over pipe. them U clamps are horrible. if thats what you planned on using.

im sure you can, maybe a dealer only item, or maybe rockauto will have em.

are the felpro's fat gaskets? or thin metal?

this is what a stock one looks like.

with a side dish of port work whoring.

They are gasket material with metal rings around the exhaust ports. Are the stock ones way better? Worth getting? Also I talked to a couple guys everyone has there opinion but when the machine shop ported my heads he basically gasket matched the exhaust ports took alot out I'd send you a picture but I don't know why it won't work.
