Slow windows.

Hey my windows have been slow since I bought the car 2 years ago. Now I'm finally getting tired of it. I read around that you can grease the lines to make them move quicker. I can't find the lines. Anyone have pics? Thanks.

There is like a gold piece of metal, the line is on that.

On a coupe it looks like a giant O

I suck at explaining this. Lol

Your motor might be on its way out though too :p

Here is a coupe

The bracket part is where the lines are ;)

take the inside door panel off and check the sliders out where the cable rides. they wear out.

dont use liquid spray oils, they attract dust and dirt and make it worse over time. lost 2 regulators on my truck from spraying oils on it. i now use graphite lock spray, its a dry powder. ( slick as sh it too) you can also put it in your locks, car, home, pad locks, makes the key turn like butter.

mine also work faster when the car is moving, vs parked and idling,( even slower when the cars off) the big 3 upgrade is said to help speed the windows up.

Not to hijack, but what about for a window that will go up a few inches then instantly stop. Then it won't go up at all, I have to wait a few minutes then it'll go up another couple inches. If it's near the top it'll go up all the way. This is also only my driver side window, and it rolls down just fine.

That must be it, I figured it could be a short in the wiring, but the motor is probably the issue. Thanks!

One thing you can do is use like the graphite stuff you use in key locks, and put that in the rubber tracks that the window slides up and down. Helps a TON

I can take an actual pic tomorrow... phone too dead to use flash.
But the idea is here. Ignore my horrible arrows

The like weatherstripping like things that the window locks into when its all the way up and along the sides?

Has anyone with the slow windows here done the Alternator rewire trick? After I did the Alt rewire thing my windows went up way faster on my 97 GT and my current 98 GTP. Just wondering.

My windows aren't slow, the motor is just messed up. But now that you mention it, I should do the big 3 upgrade.

Well, I have not done the big three, just the big one LOL, Ran a 4 gauge wire from behind the Alt to the top of the positive mount, made a huge change throughout the car.

The 4 gauge wire was a 4ft or 5ft piece from the parts store for $5. You can run whatever gauge bigger, but 4 gauge worked for me.

Here is were I ran it.

Can kinda see it here, I have loom over it. The drawing above is for reference.

Haha I might just do that since it's right on top. Did you notice any mpg difference after doing it? I've heard of people gaining 2-3 mpg from doing this 'mod'.
