ideally you want the car to up to operating temps when you bleed it, you want the thermostat open and the fans on, cap off, then bleed it, and fill as necessary. you want the to try to have the rad cap at the highest point of the engine too, that's why ramps are a good option to lift the rad higher, they also sell a radiator filler neck that extends the caps hole so its now higher than the engine.
