Slim HIDs ????

I've been considering getting some HIDs for my 00 Grand Prix.. I remember a few years back i seen that the bulb sat too far in the headlight housing therefore did not put out good light on roads. Seen backinback had modified his set with 100% success.

Ive see most HID kits now offer a slim bulb option, is this due to the fact of them not fit in the housing correctly???


and what kit should i be looking at??? In other words whats the best plug n play/ez installation! Lol
 


"Slim kits" have nothing to do with the bulb. Its a slim ballast. Most people just go full size due to issues with slims going bad.

DDM and VVME seem to be the preferred HID stores by most of the members of this forum.
 
slim ballasts are just used because they draw less power, I know when I first got HID's I got the fat ballasts and they would draw so much power that when my headlights turned on it would make my radio full of static. The slim ballasts fixed most of that but the only way I got my stereo to stay static free is with the relay. I would suggest getting one

Ok thanks! Which would you prefer..?? And should i get the bigger 55w

Do these bulbs sit in the correct spot for good light to hit the road.. I remembered the thread a few years ago about the bulb being too far inside the headlight housing and not having good road lighting

What do you mean it would make ur radio have static..??? What is the fm part or was it during cds/ipod being played??


Could been a grounding issue there also
 
As it sits the universal design for a 9007 HID is borked and no one cares enough to fix it. Good reason to avoid HIDs in stock housings. As far as ballast quality, most people here will argue DDM vs VVME. Both will try and point out flaws in someone else's kit. At the end of the day they're both **** and I'd recommend you check out theretrofitsource.com and get the morimoto HID kit. While you're at it buy some MH1's and do a retrofit so don't add to the number of douchebag's on the road with glarey HIDs in stock reflector housings.

HID projectors are meant for HIDs.
Halogen reflector housings are meant for halogens.
 


Don't get 55w Hids especially w/ a reflector based headlight your going to wear out bulbs much faster plus you'll be one of those douches that blinds oncoming traffic. Personally doing a retrofit is the way to go but if not at least make sure your aim your headlights correctly and not put others lifes in danger.
 
It made my fm stations have static but when I changed stereo's, bought slim balasts, and threw on the relay it all went away

bad ground. static like that usually comes from ground loops and when you add something else to that loop that's drawing a lot of power it creates weird issues like that.
