Sketchy car......

So my buddy wanted me to come along today to look at what he told me was a super clean 01 special edition gtp coupe with 115k on it. Upon inspection I noticed some things, one. It was super clean as far as rust (spotless) but the clear coat is gone gone all over but rust free is hard to find. Two. It was salvage titled. And here's the kicker and hopefully you guys can back me up on this, the car had everything a special edition is supposed to roof rails, hood, spoiler, exhaust, wheels, 2 tone leather....... but one big deal is m.i.a, the gauge cluster. Special editions are suppose to have the white face gauges correct? Beings as it doesn't I have to assume the odometer is not correct, that mixed with a salvage title makes this car worthless in a sense you think? I told him to walk away that I know these cars as I have owned quite a few 97-03's be them gt or gtp in my day and this was not adding up. He ignored me and paid 3k for this sketchy a** car! If I'm wrong about the cluster please let me know. I figured I'd ask you guys

Hes a dumbass to pay $3000 for a salvage title Grand Prix. The Special Edition factor doesn't make the car worth any more. From your description that car is worth at most $750.

Even if it had a clean title it sounds like the car was worth a max of $1500.

Incorrect. To my knowledge only the 03 Limited Edition had the white face gauges. $3K for a rust free 115k mile car is not a bad deal.

The clusters pop up on eBay frequently. 03's only had the cluster from my research. I paid $100 for mine. Aesthetic gains help boost performance.

The car is really really clean outside of paint, the pinch welds look new, rockers are not even dirty. The clear has just had it, I mean it's peeling all the way down to the gtp badges. But the interior is also absolutely spotless. It is what it is, I recommended he walk away from the car because it was salvaged and it was claimed to be a demod car so if it truly has 115k they where not a easy 115k

Yeah I would have walked too once I found out it had a salvage title. Not worth the risk imo. Oh well, it's not my money lol.

3k with a salvage title.. lol
