single chambered box

i have 2 15 inch kicker l7s each on their own hifonics 1500w amp. would putting in a single chambered box cancel each other out? i have heard that you olny use a single chambered box if you olny have one amp running both subs.
 


Really in my eyes, as long as you have the right ammount of space it shouldnt matter what you do. The only advantages to having a seperate chamber for each woofer would be if you only wanted to run one sub if something happened, and to strengthen the box up a bit more...

P.S- get rid of those as soon as you can, I almost blew up a set getting like 500-700 a piece, they were horrible they started ticking and making all kinds of horrible noises. Glad they saw the wall socket, not trying to bash them or anything but that is just my personal experiences.
 
really? i had one of them on 1500w for a while it was good. i just recently bought another one and amp. did you have the 08 models?
 
wow thats not good at all. i have one sitting next to me made me want to check it lol.i just hope that never happens to me i have a friends that had 2 l7s on a 4000w amp and they hit hard. he never had any problems so thats when i got mine. is stuff like that common with l7s?

I'm sure the quality is just not as good as a handmade american built sub, what can you really expect from a chinese built mass produced subwoofer? Like I mean you won't have a car left after it blows out all the windows and permenently defen's you. Lol I have one coming and have already have had 2 of these and they are amazing. Puts the kicker to shame considering that the l7's are squares..

the subs? i ran 2 CVX's to their own memphis PR1000 amps so 1000 watts RMS to a 750 watts RMS 12inch woofer, 2000 max to 1500 max EACH for 16 months damn near every day...when installed correctly kicker will last forever....now the amps well i can see if you are talkin about those

There are plenty of people on here will agree with me that kicker is garbage... Trust me my system was installed properly, the subs were broken in on a test bench before being installed and the amp was spec'd "perfectly" to the subs and they still failed... Kicker said it was a factory defect and that they would replace the subs, i gave up on that when the shipping exceeded what i paid for the subs.
 
wow im sorry for your expirience, ive recommened and installed a ton of kicker products and only had a kicker comp 10 fail in my buddies truck due to an amp that put out twice as much as the sub's MAX for a few months....to each their own i guess
 
Back on the topic of the box. With subs that large I'd definately split them up. A friend of mine did it with his 15's and 1 sub would over power the other and cause it to push the other out. Ended up putting a divider in and it was fine.

I'm one of them. Not that the L7 is terrible. But I don't like the design or the mentality that goes along with their marketing/customers.

I prefer separate chambers because that piece of wood helps with the structure of the box. It also allows you to keep playing with one sub if the other is damaged. Another advantage would be to run stereo subs. However, not too many people want that or are even able to implement that correctly.

This is retarded and would never happen if you installed two of the SAME.

The only REAL reason you'd have each sub in its own chamber is so that when you blow one up you can still keep rocking the other while repairing/replacing the other one.

Stereo subs in a car just seems overkill if you have proper midbass up front already.... :)

Well you're wrong considering they were both Kicker L7 15's. All you have to have is enough pressure being created and one sub that's just barely weaker (for what ever reason that may be)

i like vibrating. kind of relaxing in its own way.

me and a friend did a comarison of subs like this. 2 in one chamber and each in their own. found that on the same amp with the same amount of power at the same volume the subs that each had a chamber performed better. seemed that they hit a little harder and cleaner. my thoughts were that they were not fighting each other on the beats, not fighting for air as one takes it away if you catch my drift. probably not the same as others have found, but i figured i would throw in my .02

it sounds like dual chambered is better, so thats what im gonna go with, but i personally like kicker and i think thier kicker l7s are loud. this is the first time i heard bad about them. i know 3 other ppl than myself that own kicker subwoofers and love them , and has had no problems. srry to hear about your bad experiances with them.
 


If your subwoofers are THAT different from the factory then there's a serious QC issue. Given the same signal any differences in the subs should be transparent assuming the box was made correctly. Seriously, the differences should amount to maybe tenths of a difference in T/S parameters. Shared chamber vs. independent chambers won't change your subs response all things presumed "proper"...that INCLUDES install.

So maybe I'm an ass but I'm with Matt on this one.
