Simple Intake (pictures)

Does yours also have the crazy loud sucking sound? I mean I knew the sound would change but the sucking sound on this thing is crazy lol

Should go away after it warms up and the iac valve closes. Mine's loud on cold startups too but after 10 mins of idle, or after putting it in gear it stops.

Here's my simple intake. Yeah I know, it sucks in hot air from the motor. But for now, I don't care. lol It sounds better than the stock intake and makes the engine bay a little more presentable. I got a 3" rubber coupling, 3"-45 degree pvc "street pipe" and a 4" cone K&N filter. The street pipe, on one end, is "flared" to a 3" ID and almost 4" OD so the 4" K&N fit perfectly on there. The other end of the pipe is a 3" OD. Painted the PVC w/ gloss black. Popped a 1/2" hole in the pipe for the sensor. Used a rubber grommet as well as some silicone adhesive for a good seal around the sensor. Can't get much easier than that! When it gets warmer I'll be doing a fender well intake but this will do for now. I used the old zip tie method for the PCM but I will be going to the yard this weekend to get a Blazer tray to mount the PCM to.

part list of this guy and where to get it?

Elbow is from Home Depot or Lowes. Use any air filter you want. The rubber connectors are also from lowes/hd
just air filter, plastic elbow, connectors, and paint

3" rubber coupling (had a metal sheet around it that the 2 clamps were mounted to. i pulled the metal sheet off and used the clamps), 3"- 45 degree "street pipe" elbow (I say street pipe bc that's what the label at Menards said). it is 3" outer diameter on one end and 3" inner on the other side, 4" K&N filter (you can choose whatever filter you want). the 4" filter mounts perfectly over the 3" inner diameter end. Drilled a 1/2" hole for the sensor and then used a 1/2" rubber grommet and silicone adhesive to seal the hole around the sensor. then just used high temp gloss black paint to paint it. Sorry this may be a bit confusing. If you need me to, I'll be glad to roll down to menards and take pics of the exact parts I used to make it easy on you man.

So some of these guys..

then get this guy...

and drill a 1/2" hole for the sensor and then were did you get the grommet?

Yes on the second link. The first link are just clamps. Here is sorta what the rubber coupling I bought looks like. It has this metal sheet around it that the clamps are connected to. Just break the clamps off of the metal sheet and just use the rubber and clamps. http://www.menards.com/main/plumbin...uplings/3-no-hub-coupling/p-134878-c-9371.htm
I got the rubber grommet at Ace. It was in their nuts and bolts section in one of the drawers. They had very few but you need one with a 1/2" inner diameter for the sensor to fit snug into. Then I got some silicone adhesive to make sure the seal was tight.

You have a maf the whole is for the iat sensor that the 97-03 have just incorporate the maf. And if you have a vac line. Like I did being an 06 drill a hole into the rubber coupler slightly smaller and jam it in there

Just did this setup on my 99 and Holy Fudgesicles does that S/C whistle! Thank you so much for the writeup, can't wait to get her out on the highway on my way to work tomorrow!

Just made myself one of these i think i will be upgrading to an aluminum pipe that is a little longer and when i can make my way to the junk yard get a pcm mount. I dont have that throw ya back in the seat effect anymore when the supercharger kicks in i am still getting full boost and everything seems fine love the sound but am not sure if i am now getting less power or what is happening. Is more air allowing the motor to not have that sudden jump in pressure i am used to and giving me a smoother range?

Have you cleaned your MAF at all? Skip the PCM mount just throw a bungie or zip tie around it.

just thew mine on yesterday. was expecting a large amount of noise from reading some of the comments on here. can hear the blower some more but nothing what i had i mind.

Cold starts can sound like a shovel on concrete depending on ambient temp and once you drop pulley size the sound comes alive.

Stock pulleys just don't spin it fast enough for alot of whine.

yah i have a smaller pulley on that was given to me but never measured it, i should. updated sig, hadn't been on here in some time.

Do you have a press on pulley? The mps pulleys have the size written on the side
Nice intake btw
