Significant gains from headers over power log?

is there a huge difference? lets put it this way if a power log and downpipe lightly used was available for the price of lets say new speed daddy headers what would you buy? what are the gains of headers over a power log?

im personally not 100% sold on the ultimate gains of headers over a plog/downpipe setup, but so far every header car dyno'd makes more power per mod.

or maybe theres just more people that have headers with mods versus power log and mods? lol has there every been two cars that have the same amount of mods but the only difference is the headers and power log?

No. The old timers use to just have PLOG, DP, ported mani's. There's a reason everyone went to headers, especially since they're are a fraction of the cost of what use to be available ($900 TOG's anyone?)

Headers will flow a lot better. You still have the restriction of the crossover and the rear manifold with a Plog. If you can get headers for the same price as a Plog and downpipe, why wouldn't you do headers? Headers can be had relatively cheap and they are one of the best mods you can do for these cars when you are starting modding.

I know headers flow better but does anyone know of any actual dyno results with a plog+Dp setup...I already have a DP so just getting a Plog wouldn't be putting my out to much money...I want to go with a cam eventually just trying to figure how much power the Plog and Dp leave on the table compared to headers...btw I can find tons of vids on youtube but they all have headers

I think the horsepower gains are honestly about the same...to an extent. Lets say 2 typical bolt on 3.4 setup GTPs ( not a serious build) one has a plog/downpipe setup the other with headers. the plog downpipe one might put something like 230whp while the header one may put 230-232whp.Its not much difference hp wise however once you get into bigger more serious builds then the gains from headers would be larger more then likely. But otherwise flow is key.

Yeah when I bought the DP I wanted to go SD headers but having to weld in a new flex and bang on my firewall didn't seem ideal to me...now I am thinking that someday I would like to get a NIC cam but not anytime soon...just trying to gauge how much power I would leave on the table with plog dp if I end up going with the cam...also since I have 150+ into my dp I wouldn't really be much farther ahead by selling and getting headers price wise

What would you consider a serious build?
