Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

My mom is moving out of state in the next month and shes not taking her 02 sportage with her.
im pretty sure she'd sell it to me for under $500,
should i do it? it runs, drives but its 192k and 2wd.
2000lb towing rating, dirt cheap parts, body on frame (maybe i could convert it to 4wd?)

Serious question here, if i put AT tires on it, i want to take it on the beach, can a 2wd light car with good tires handle sand?

you do know that the sand vary's from place to place right?

you drive on to the beach at the NJ shore in a car or 2wd anything and your done with in 10 foot of leaving the hard ground lol

not all beaches are like daytona beach.

mom said i could have it, but im going to give her some money for it anyway, give her cash to land on with the move

if you are going to swap an L67 into something, make it a lower mileage vehicle. why bother going through all that effort on something that is going to wear out sooner than later.

Yeah 195k on a Kia is way past what they were ever designed to last.

the engine was rebuilt 10k miles ago, trans is solid, and mom drives like a grandmother coming home from church

Yes but you are also talking about 2 different generations of cars. In the early 2000s Kias and Hyundais were basically throw away vehicles. By the mid 2000s they actually pulled their heads out of their butts and started making better quality vehicles.

i can agree with that, but at the end of the day its a working driving vehicle for effectively the cost of transfering the title. Add a hitch and drive it once a week to keep the battery charged, and keep it for crap i dont want to put in a nice car.
