I want to get this car mainly for the transmission, pull it out and rebuild it over winter. I think it would be a good side project and also make as a good DD. Are the 4T65E's capable of swapping in any 03+ grand prix's? I know there is a difference between 97-02 and the 03+ ones but I can't seem to find out what it is. Thanks guys!

The difference is in the Valve Body. They are significant differences. Would require a tuner.

Friend has an olds intrigue and the tranny is what died on it forcing him to scrap it.

I do have a tuner, would replacement parts compensate if I were to put it in a 03+ newer car?

I wouldn't buy that car with hopes of parts being reliable. I would buy it just to drive it into the ground.

Why? It's not like it's a super reliable car to begin with. And for that many miles $750 still isn't that cheap. Try $400.
