Shorted out HID Fog

Ok, so I installed HID in headlights and fogs maybe a year or two ago. About 4-6 months after that my right fog light became temperamental and eventually ceased to function. I am think that some water got in and fried the bulb. I finally have a new set to install, but I'm wondering if there is a better way to wire these up. The bulbs plug into the ballast fine but only have two leads not the actual end of a plug so on the last set I used a liberal amount of electrical tape to hold them in place and attempt to seal out any water. Oddly enough now I think my left headlight is starting to go out as it is getting more purple and slower to turn on so that will need replaced soon too

Btw I'm using a DDM 35w 880 set
 


The end that plugs into the car's harness has just leads and not 880 plugs? that's cheap. I have ordered from DDM before and they are plug and play and comes with the 880 plug. I can tell
you that if they are not wired properly they will not last long. I did the same thing like you and used pig tails with electrical tape and if I even flick the connection they will short.
Best bet is to use the actual 880 plug. I had good luck with using the additional harness that connects to the battery instead.
 
Yep just had two pin leads that would slide into the 880 plug. I ordered new ones hopefully they will come with the plug this time so I won't have to mess with it.
 
Ok so I have had everything that you have had happen and then some so I will tell you what you need to do. First off I would say buy new headlight set to go with your fog light set, although this is not necessary I would suggest starting new since they are only like $45 for a new kit. Second is don't be cheap and buy the $8 relay harness for both your headlights and fog light, it saves a lot of headaches and will make your driver side fog light come back on. Third is when you get the relays take the actual relay part off and put di-electric grease on the pins and then take some silicone and seal the relay to the piece it connects too. This will keep it from corroding And after all that on all of your connections put some di-electric grease on them and DO NOT seal them with electrical tape, no matter how good you think they are sealed water will get in and the tape will keep it in. Do this and your problems will be solved
 


I have replacement parts on the way just waiting for EMS shipping to quit taking their good old time. Hoping to see them this week so I can tear everything apart and redo it all before I get a ticket for only having one headlight lol
 
Well the parts finally came in. Turns out one of my headlight ballasts died and one of the foglight ballasts died so I pulled everything out and put the working 35w in the other headlight for the time being. So now I have a 55w in one and 35w in the other. The 55w makes the 5k bulb seem like lower K. The 35w it's white white rarely a hint of blue. Looks so weird. Already sent the others back so hopefully it doesn't take forever
