Shifting issues in 96 GP with 3.1

I am wanting to rebuild my valve body in my 96 GP SE, I have the 3.1 motor. Does anyone know if there are any shift kits for the GP that I could use when I am in there that will improve the shifting. Not sure what if any other problem I am missing, depending the cars mood, sometime when you have been driving it around town, lots of stop and go, it seems to start shifting into second to soon , shifts and seems to lug down, maybe even going to third, not sure, but you can shift it manually and yhere is no slip or any other issue, just thought maybe the valve body was sticking or something. Any help would be great, thanks
