shifter wont shift

WHERES THE LAMB SAUCE?!?!
so i went to install my new shift boot tonight. and after i finally got the perfomance shift wire unplug. i got the boot glued on and i got everything back together. i put the shifter knob on put the clips back into place put back together my console and stuff went to go shift from nuetral to park and the button would squeeze and go to park. and now wont shift out of it and my battery is dead now to top it all off. where did i go wrong?

Did you try pushing in the little button as said in chat box? And you're sure the knob is seated all the way down? Can you feel resistance when you squeeze the button on the knob? Seems like the neutral safety switch to me.
 
it feels like it did before when i would squezze. and i tried 3 times with the release button
 


is the battery charged back up?

you could have pulled a plug from the shiftier, or a wire just broke when you were in there, the 2 solenoids work together, the one in the shiftier and the column.
 


my regal's shiftier was locked with a dead battery. and the key was stuck forward as well. once you get power to the car, enough to make the dome lights come on the key will turn back.

if you have another car and jumper cables, but cant get the cables to the car type deal, take the battery out of the other car take it to your car run the cables from the good battery to your battery, 15 to 20 minutes later your car should crank.

if you want your key back, pop the plastic cap off under the key, and use a pen or stick to push the release up, and the key will turn back.
 
i dont need the key i took my house keys off. and ill let it charge while at work and i will mess with it tomorrow maybe i got plans for my birthday i dont ever really drive the thing. i should start living by the motto if its not broken dont fix it
