Shift kit needed?

Hey guys just wondering when exactly a shift kit should be installed. Right now I have a 2002 gtp with headers an ssic with a ported lower intake manifold and currently on a 3.3 pulley with 15 degrees of timing Kr free right now. Ran at the track here the other day and ran a 14.90 up here in Denver. I know off the shelf tunes they do some transmission tweaks and I haven't messed with any of the settings that Zzp set it to. Seems to shift perfect and doesn't hesitate but I guess my main question is what exactly do they do and would it be worth the time?

I know the transmission in my car has been rebuilt in the past but I can't imagine anything has been really done to it performance wise. Just would like to see it last a while and take care of it. Any advice is appreciated.

it will firm up the shifts more. and make the tranny last longer by shifting quicker.

you should be able to run more timing too. like closer to 18 if not 19 wot.

I tried setting it to 19 with a little race fuel in the tank and when I got half way down the track I could see some kr on my scan gauge. I had my 3.3 on. I only hit 2* and my afr was at 11.1. Wondering if when I put my yella terra 1.8s in will make a difference. What kind of afr should I be seeing? Also wonder if it's time to upgrade injectors. But I am planning to do a tranny fluid change and I'll put a shift kit in there for peace of mind for now.

do the shift kit if your dropping the pan. its worth the 40 bucks.

injectors should be ok till a 3.2- 3.1 pulley, and a/f 11's are good on the wideband.

the rockers will also help, i got a set of yt 1.95's and they killed 5 degrees kr on a stock regal gs. no tune.

id go up one degree at a time in the wot cells till it knocks. then back it down one. you'll want to do this on a hot ass day too. hotter it is out even with a ic can cause kr with to much timing.

what ya tuning with?

I got a in-car tune tune firmed up the shift and a transgo shift kit later on, shifts are super quick now, torque pro show 0.2 seconds to shift lol.

Why only 14.9? Shouldn't it be alot faster? You must be way above sea level I'm guessing?

It's sucks trying to make power way up here at almost 6000 feet at the track. Cars usually run a second slower unfortunately. Stock Gtps usually run low 16 very high 15s here.
