My ex g/f was a cougar. She had an 87' Monte SS garaged that only has 40,000 miles and her ex husband bought it for her new and when they divorced he kept it in a house that they both refuse to sell but rent...long story...anyways...its still there...

So I'm happily married, got kids now, and my ex contacts me and says she wants to give me the car for free...possibly trying to get me back or something...

I'm working out a deal, I have her sign the title to my friend in GA, when he gets the title and signs it and turns it in he will get a new one with just his name on it, so then he can mail it to me so my wife never finds out the car came from her.

Next shady deal...how do I drive from KY to NY to pick up a car and drive it back without my wife knowing how I got the car from a friend in GA and have to go to NY to get it...

How do I explain how I got a mint condition Monte SS with 40,000 original miles for free from a friend in GA?

Should I just decline maybe? I could possibly just confess to my wife and say that we can flip the car for money, but I always loved that car and would love to have it...but I don't think it will sit well with my Wife knowing where the car came from...hence my shady plan...

Ugh...drama.
 


if you cant tell the wife the truth, maybe if you had a few grand saved up you could take that and tell her you need it to buy this once in a lifetime car. then you would have hidden cash on hand. sneaky sneaky :th_lipssealed2:
 
best bet is to not go through a 3rd person. If you're trying to be super sneaky, and your wife gets wind of it..she's going to assume the worst (it's what women do) and think that they're may be more involved.

I'd tell her the truth. "My ex wants to give me her awesome car for free"

Most women are okay with stuff that is free.


If not, just tell her you're going to check out a once in a lifetime car, and then just get your name titled, and whal-lah!
 
mann dont decline it! thats a sweet deal. just tell her the truth. youre getting a free car out of it! or if you must lie...tell her you bought it from a friend a while ago but you paid him to restore it as well...and now that hes finally done restoring it you can go pick it up...
 


Well...I got time to plan this a bit better, or feel the wife out on whether or not she can handle the truth because I can't do crap about it sitting in afghanistan, so I have time to make such an elaborate scheme that it could be movie script worthy and you can insert the cast of the hangover and call it hangover 3 or something.

Next issue is talking to her ex husband, that guy hated my guts because technically they were still married while I was with his wife, so when he finds out I'm the one getting the car it will be interesting, he'd probably torch the car if he found out before I got there rather than watch me drive away in it. He still living in that house where the car is, so he will have to know its me when I get the keys from him...

"Hey man, thanks for the free mint condition car and letting me bang your wife in your house...and on the hood of that Monte." .....yeah, that won't go over well.

if you cant tell her who the car is coming from then you dont deserve to pick up the car. it's not like you're stopping up there to cheat on your wife AND bring a car home.....or are you?
 
I'm a terrible liar. This will not work. I'm going to tell the truth right now on Skype. I need to put more faith in my wife that she will not over-react, she may in fact surprise me and agree to it all. I just can't hide crap that well, I'm not smart enough to pull off clever schemes, and besides, if I hid this and one day it leaked out, she would feel betrayed and I don't want to hurt her over a stupid car, no car is worth my family.

I'm disappointed in myself for even conceiving a plan like that, I should know better.

Here I go...wish me luck.

If she feels comfortable with you, you might get the car. If she doesn't approve, then it sucks but its life. Who knows if she doesn't approve it might be a good thing.... avoid other drama bull**** you don't need.
 
if you suck at lying TELL THE TRUTH... i really dont see wha she will get mad about if its free and your just picking it up...
 
Offer to take her with to pick up the car maybe? I agree women always read the worst in things from guys (or at least usually) who can blame them, we are barely above actual leg humping dogs for the most part. If it was just another GF you had and not a wife and kids, maybe different story but with family involved, don't lie. Just my .02 GL though that would be a sweet deal for you.

Are you expecting something to happen with your ex? in return for the car?

There will be suspicion no matter what if you come clean, like why are you still in contact with your ex, why'd it take you SO LONG to get the car and return, etc... Nothing good would come of it except you feeling good cause you thought it would be best to tell her the truth. Obviously you think there is or you wouldn't be asking what to do.

Just my $.02...

I would just say I have a deal too good to pass up, found it on Graigslist, then get the vehicle and bring it right to MV and re-register it, new plates etc. and it's done! Or go get a PO Box and have the ex send the Title and a set of keys there, then take care of Title transfer and go get the car with new papers, insurance, plates, etc, in hand - so there's no delay while with the ex, lol... care for a quick drink before you go ;) know what I mean ;)

Not lying to your wife, just not divulging all the facts is all.

Having worked with many con artist over the years in a legal sense (NYPD) (and some of the best) they all GET caught best thing is fiogure out the whole story (THE TRUTH) only you know why your wife would not want you to get a free car. Sit down with the wife and explain it to her in simple honest truth then you don't have to look over your shoulder and worry about slipping up
 
Why not sign the title over to me along with the address of the car and I swear I will deliver it to you??

Nobody gets hurt...
