Service Vehicle light, ABS light and intermittent stalling

regalls

New member
My wife is complaining I ruined the car after I replaced the LIM gasket:th_shakinghead1:
Because the car stalled once at a stop sign. Car was restarted immediately.
I went over the car, here is what I got,
1. Can runs and idles smoothly, shouldn't be vacuum leak or IAC/MAF issue.
2. All electric connection are tight.

3. I am trying to replicate the stalling without luck yet. However, I did notice that ABS light and service vehicle light comes on occasionally (This also happened before LIM repair). I figure that either the wheel speed sensor or its connecting wire may be shot. A faulty sensor should trigger these lights and cause stalling (but can restart easily).

Am I on the right track? If so, where I can get the parts? When I searched on advanceauto website, it returned part No Pt374 Acdelco, is this the right parts?

Thanks for reading my post.

I would start by finding out why the lights are on and fix/clear those first. You never know how systems are linked to eachother. Do you have a code reader?
Were the LIM gaskets leaking into the engine block or intake system before the gasket change? I could see that if some coolant was being burned before the repair that possible oxygen sensor damage cause the stall condition. Also, did you use RTV on the install, and if so was it "SENSOR SAFE" silicon.

Ok, more symptoms emerged this morning, after I started the car (car will start fine), if I release the parking braking, the engine will quit. I end up releasing the parking brake before starting the car. I was able to reproduce this stalling several times, engine always quits upon releasing of parking brake. Sometimes the gauges on the dash also act funny. Does this suggest the ignition switch is the real culprit?

I had this problem. My mechanic told me it was a fuse. He replaced it. And it my car works fine. About a year later, it happens again. I went out and bought a new fuse and did it myself. This however did not fix the problem. So we replaced the fuel pump ourselves b/c we figured this was the next thing to go out on the car...well my car runs fine now except-I have some sensor lights on now. SRS Airbag, Security, and Service Engine Soon...So now I'm baffled. Off to my mechanic I spose...

Update, problem fixed

After replacing ignition switch, the car never quit on me and the intermittent ABS, trac, service vehicle light have not come back.
