Find the tsb for metripack "fretting" issue....its why the metripack GT series (these have purple plastic on the connector body) are silver plated....the tin flashed terminals accelerate fretting.

I've seen melted fuel pump module connectors on vehicles with less than 30000 miles. You do not make major changes to a whole production series of cars and vehicles to put in more expensive and nearly double the size terminals to fix an issue that is only found on out of warranty vehicles. Bean counters would only allow that kind of expenditure if it was a common issue on brand new vehicles under warranty which it was....

Holy shoot! I was looking at the wrong gm 4pin the whole time! Wow. You're not kidding about that being underpowered! I will definitely look into that when I upgrade my fuel pump. GM never ceases to amaze me....

Thanks Turbocharged! I learn something new about how GM pinches penny's all the time... lol I'm definitely looking into upgrading when I go with a larger pump....

Hello to you as well James, I hope all is well.
I also realized that awhile back I had added zzp's alternator booster which most likely contributed to my problem and has now been removed and the external wires to the fuel pump are much cooler. Yup that was stupid
 


As far as the new cannister goes is one brand better than another? I see a wide range of prices I don't need the fuel pump I'm primary concerned if one manufacturer makes a better plug than another.
 
They all come with plugs you have to crimp on, the cheap ass canisters the fuel level sensor takes a **** the first year.
 


I have 2 cannisters but both have the old O2 style square plug. I ordered a new cannister its supposed to be here tomorrow. So it should be ready for Monday shenanigans. And if it burns to the ground I'll be one step closer to supercharged LT4 fun.
 


Increasing voltage isn't hurting. If anything it drops the current draw on most inductive circuits and most resistive loads.

I just drill a hole and run wires directly in with our TV ceiling it once it's all installed
 
Do you think that's a better option than using the new style plug, obviously it's less parts to fail. Just curious, we are going to address this issue on Monday and I don't want to worry about it constantly.

I'm not a fan of running it straight without a connector 1. for convenience, and 2, if that rtv or whatever you use doesn't seal correctly then you're going to have an evap leak, and I don't trust rtv bonding to everything and lasting 10+ years with the heat and vibration. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I don't like the combo of a car with possible fuel vapor leaks. Seeing as 1200HP LS cars have run this style connector and are fine, I'm more prone to trust it. Though if that connector comes off, if the fuel level sensor fails, it's easy to replace with all the spares you have!
