• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Now I just have to wait for more amsoil break in oil to show up, I managed to get antifreeze and other crap in the pan during tear down. Hopefully the beginning of next week it will idle and I can finish the odds and ends. Who knows maybe I'll get to drive it soon.

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Thanks i did a little wiring clean up this weekend while i wait for the oil, which should be here on tues. Hoping to bleed the brakes and actually pull it out of the garage on tues.

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Back up and running a bit of an idling issue but not bad. I actually got to drive it around the block. I need to bleed the brakes again the pedal is still pretty soft.

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Ran into more issues, valve train has more noise than I would like. Gonna pull the valve covers to inspect hopefully its nothing major.

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Update: vacuum leak fixed and brakes bled, took it around the block and it runs pretty damn good. Turbo defiantly kicked in faster than i thought it would.

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

I'll get pics and vids up shortly I still have a couple issues to take care of but for the most part I'm pretty happy. Thank you everyone for all the help and support I appreciate it.

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Finally got it insured yesterday, only took 2 weeks to get a policy number (sarcasm). Took it to have it inspected and get it tagged, so its actually legal to drive ...yippee. It drove awful the whole time, every stop light it died and set off a maf code one of the times and wouldnt restart till it was cleared, bad time to not have my scanner. Fortunately i had my phone and got it cleared with torque but as we all know we are subject to the communication speed of the bluetooth obd, which seemed to take forever while sitting dead at a stop light lol. Got it home and changed the fuel filter again and took it for a short trip today and seems to be running better at least it didnt die on me. Im really not liking the comp oer lifter noise!! When it stops raining ill go for another drive and see how it does. How much drop in oil pressure should i expect after it warms up to running temp?

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Took it out for a 30 mile drive today and it ran beautifully I need to put a few more miles on it then ill pull it apart and figure out where the cam magnet went and replace the lifters so it doesnt sound like 12 angry sowing machines under the hood. After that it should be ready for some boost woohoo!

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

if you have a double roller and the BS is deleted you can fish the magnet into the cam gear through the opening with the LIM off, you shouldnt have to remove the Tcover and gear to do it.

to get it to do it i had to shave a ****hair off the tips of the plastic where the notches are for the tangs

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

I have a single roller and the balance shaft is deleted but im not sure where the magnet went is my problem at the moment lol. Im gonna have to take the timing cover off to see why it came out, if it hit something or what. But thanks for the info, good to know

Re: The Build (going turbo!)

Well as i already posted in my other thread i ran into some issues but all the parts are finally here, ive been waiting a week and a half for a cam key lol. LS7 lifters are installed so now time to install the new double roller timing crap and see what else i can break.

Up and running......again

The new double roller chamfered and installed

Not sure how well you can hear it but the LS7 lifters are MUCH quieter!!

Just a little teaser with it sitting outside idling, once again not sure how well the sound came through.
