Sell the GTP or not? What would you do?

I have a 2002 GTP that has 132k on it. Engine is fine, car is real clean. (Garages > Lawngoose's Garage - FQuick.com)

However... I have been having tranny issues lately. I know this means and inevitable tranny replacement is in my future.

The issue is not getting a replacement tranny but rather installing it. I dont have all the tools/time needed to install (I have no second car at this point).

So I started thinking... I could get some decent money back on my car if I demodded and brought it back to stock.

Currently I owe 5600 on it, and NADA says clean retail is 6300. Don't know what I could get for it, or the best route to get our from under it... if thats what i decide to do.

What would you do? ​
 


Honestly...and I know from trying to sell my '03 and even running with as stock as I could get it with 88K people were trying to give me 6K for it...and I was like NO WAY. I know it sounds rough, but I'd put some new fluid and do a pan drop and trade her in for a newer one in good shape...and keep your mods and put them on the new car :D
 
already done a pan drop... i bought it at 81k since then have dropped pan twice. Yea, i wouldnt mind having a 04, so i could use my Powrtuner.
 
get a TEP trans, i got one in my car and Dave just built a non hd for my moms GP GT. my car is an 02 fully loaded GP GTnowP there is no way im going to ever get what i put into it if i sell it so its cheaper for me to keep her.
 


thats a tough predicament man id say run the trans into the ground then replace it take a day off of work and swap a new 1 in bust your ass and you will finish =]
 
Well the TEP tranny would be a nice investment, but I have never done a FWD car, replaced my chevy truck's Turbo 350 trans... but RWD is a whole different story.

Where are those helpful tranny writeups when u need them.

Plus its not like you get a TEP tranny...and not have to add money....like TQ converter....etc... that stuff adds up. If i had another DD ... i would be game.

EDIT: i may start contacting my grand prix help...to see if i can get a member to help me out... 2 days max!
 
dave doesnt charge you extra for the converter. i paid extra for the input shaft because my car would destroy the stock one, and i ate the core charge for the HD diff because living in NYC its easier for me not to ship my stock one back.i believe his trans is on sale for 1300$+shipping, go try to find the quality and parts in a trans at some local shop, for a price that affordable.
