Sell the gp for a silverado?? Opinions

My dad is planning on purchasing a new truck and I am trying to decide if I want to step it up to his old one. it is a black 2006 Silverado 1/2 ton crew cab 100k miles, he bought it with 20k on it so pretty much since it was new and has been a great truck for him. It still books out for quite a bit more than I could afford but if I sold the gp I could get it to work out. I would do it but I feel like I would be downgrading myself because the only options it has z71, bose, and the bucket seats. I love my options in my gp such as heated seats, sunroof and autostart. There is a plethora of things I would want to do right after buying it such as tint and getting autostart. I know if I want a truck this is the one to get because it is the cleanest used truck around here that I could get for a great price but I love my gp.

Any opinions? I have been contemplating this decision for some time and just cant decide

If you don't have another DD your going to hate the truck because of gas mileage. For example, my grandparents sold their brand new 2012 GMC Terrain got about 30 somthing MPG's that had 30k on it they were the only owners, they bought an 08 Avalanche got about 17 Mpg. After being raped by gas during the summer, they bought a brand new 2013 Cruze turbo. All within 2 years. They use the truck during winter, car in the summer.

Its just kind of a boring truck haha

But really all it would be used for is a DD. if I go hunting I would still be using my dads new one because he would be getting a topper for the dog. I don't neeed to haul anything big. I could use it to haul my snowmobile but I would be easily able to use either of my parents trucks the one or two times a year I actually get the snowmobile out.

Only nice thing would be the 4wd in the winter but I live in the city which is plowed all the time and plan on doing so until I get a descent job after college and can afford my dream house in the country that's when a truck would be more useful to me.

Thanks for the input guys.

Yes grand prixs are just grand prixs but What my biggest thought is the nostalgia of the car, 1) it is aggressive looking (still looks as good as new cars) 2) a supercharged sedan, cant get a new one now unless you have deep pockets. 3) Always loved Pontiacs 4) They are still making silverados and sierras and they keep getting better looking and with better features

I'd keep the grand prix and then when he ends up getting another new truck in a few years put up the one he's getting now.

trucks are awesome and I heart Silverados, if the rado is a 5.3 you will see good gas mileage from a truck, low 20s on the highway, but you will get more miles to a tank. but most truck owners could care less about gas mileage ha. V8s haul a$$ and sound wayyy better than then a 3.8 and GPs suck in the snow. you will have a crew cab, also awesome, and a truck you will know the history of. BUT if you like options, bells, and whistles then maybe stick with the GP...but who am I to say I have both!
