Seat Swap: 04+ to 97-03[*]

I own my own upholstery shop here in cleveland, and im a Katzkin dealer. They sell katzkin heated seats and ive installed a few of them in customers cars. There pretty easy to wire up. Has an inline fuse and goes straight to the fusepanel with a fusetap or to the battery. I think this would be the easiest option wiring wise. It comes with a 2-way setting switch in each seat. just drill a 1/2 hole wheere you want the switch

Yeah I have one in the basement. But they are also expensive for those who have just forked out good money for a seat with heated options already in them. Last time I seen the price of one of those they were $100+ but prices might have come down now tho. Maybe you can enlighten us on what it cost from you???

But if you can take the stock heaters and "rewire" them then itll be fine. By going with aftermarket wiring "your own wiring" you eliminate all this crap of waiting and figuring out which one goes where..

i can show you how katzkin does it as far as wiring, using their wiring as a guide.. I wouldnt replace any of the factory heating elements if they arnt broke, but just wiring them up "aftermarketly"..

Not completely sure what you mean in that so please do help me with what you are talking about. Not picturing it in my head I guess.

sorry haha

Take the stock heater elements and wire them straight to an aftermarket fuse and switch.... Doing this you eliminate all the factory wiring and other bullcrap.. getting you to the end result faster then if you were to trace the stock wires and wait for people on this forum to answer... just have 2 aftermarket 2-way switches in the glovebox or mounted somewhere

See that's part of my problem right now. I don't know what any of the wires do. LOL! I have a 04+ wire schematic but I don't really follow it to well so I can't really figure out where these wires are at. LOL!

i would make sure the heaters dont need a relay, it may be hidden in the factory wiring. but thats the route i would go if i had to mix years and was stuck with different colored wires.

yea looks way to confusing to me as well. haha.. Id wire it up with all new stuff/switches/relays ect ect.

only reason i would go the other way is if you wanted to get 2stock heated seat switches and glue them together and make it look stock.. (they come up in the classified section from time to time)

Would wiring them like this make them heat but only on high???............

Well I might go ahead and do that one for now. Anything to keep the wife happy on that side. She ok'ed me to get them just cause of the heated seat she would be getting. LOL!

i have 05 GXP seats and wired it up (actually got a local club member to do the wiring as he did it on his car...)

i have full control over: moving forward or back, seat heater, and lumbar

however, the up and down controls dont quite work, i can hear the motors runing up and down in the front, and the back i can only hear the motor runing for up, its silent when trying to move the rear part of the seat down....

any suggestions where to look?

I have never had an issue with power seats moving anywhere. I am more wanting the heated seat to work on the passenger side. I thought maybe I could wire it up and match colors to get the seat to at leased work on hi but the wires on my passenger side seat are different so I could not wire it up at all.

Uhhhh first post page 1. Its not here but there is a link for it or at leased should be. Its pretty much right on except for passenger side. Cause the passenger side has a few different kinds of wiring and then also the passenger seat does not heat the same way as the driver side so its controled by the body control module or something like that so we can't just wire the seat up and have BOTH the HI and the LOW work. Some say they wire them but only the HI works. Thats fine by me but I don't know what wires get connected to make that work on each seat.
