SD Headers and AEM Wideband O2

This may be a silly question, but I am running cat-less and plan on buying an AEM wideband gauge and I was wondering, is the rear O2 sensor location adequate to measure the AFR? I would hate to have to weld in a bung closer upstream.

Also, if I buy the regular gasoline version, can I later switch to ethanol with no problems? I know the sensor just measures the lambda value, but I see there are 'gasoline' and 'ethanol' versions of the gauge.
 


Okay thanks! I am guessing the values are slightly off because the EGT is lower downstream? Is this enough to affect the performance of the gauge or should I just do it right the first time and have the bung welded in?
 
I'd do it right and just get the bung welded in. The gauge comes with one, any shop can weld it in for $10-15. Here are a few shots of where people put theirs.

I've got mine mounted very similarly to the bottom picture, though it is mounted a little higher up. I'm dropped just over 2" and dont bottom, so you should be just fine.
 
Some people have done that, but that only monitors the front bank (which assumes that your motor is running perfectly, and you dont have any misfires/fueling differences on the back bank)

I personally prefer to have it reading all cylinders, unless you are running a true dual setup and then I'd run one on each collector.
 


If your front bank and rear bank are that far off you have SERIOUS issues . I mean even ZZPs headers have the upstream O2 sensor in the crossover.
 
Say for example you have a slightly clogged injector on the rear bank, but your crossover wideband is only reading the front, you wouldn't see the change in your o2s and know somethings up. I agree that you'd have to have a pretty good issues to make a big difference, but I still think it's better to read all cylinders.

You want it IN FRONT OF the converter. Putting it behind the converter will throw the readings all out of whack.
