Screw Ford Focuses

TheOtherNick

The mod from over yonder
Well I was having a normal day at work (I work at a local repair shop) then I pull in a 2000 ford focus with 20k on it for an oil change. A little old lady drives it. Change the oil, check the fluids and clean it up, put some new wiperblades on it and back it out, all is fine and dandy. She comes back 2 min after she left her car is making a noise, so I pull it back in. The ****ing coil spring broke on the front passenger side. At least she realized that it was nothing we did to it and decided to get 2 new quick struts and sway bar links for the front. We give her a ride home since the parts would not be here till the next day (this was wensday).

The next day I pull it back in and put the struts and links on everything goes fine. Go to start the car and it cranks, put is not getting fuel. I figure ok I tripped the inertia switch on the passenger side floor. Sure enough it was tripped I reset it prime the pump a few times and it fires. I shut it back off to finish writing the repair order and then go to back it out. ****er is not getting fuel again. Recheck the switch its not tripped. Spent 2 hours tracing wires and checking modules all pointed to a bad fuel pump. Normally I would not have spent all that time on it, but it ran fine when I pulled it in so I assumed the pump had to be fine and I had to of grounded something out while checking the inertia switch. Well we raise it back up hit the tank a few times with a rubber mallet and it finally starts. The ****ing fuel pump locked up. So all in all she needs a new fuel pump soon. **** ford focuses, it turned a cake jump into a huge pain in my ass. Hope you had fun reading my book.

LMAO Better you than me I would have had it towed to the local yard and crushed. Then told the lil old lady someone stole her car.

The early Ford Focus's were just pure garbage...I know this cause my Step Dad use to say that when he was selling them to schmucks at his Ford Dealership

I still like the SVT Focus cause its a hatchback...and I love hot Hatches since we have so few of them here in the USA

I would not trust a 2000 or 2001 to save my life. 2002 was so-so. I had a 2003 that worked perfect, and I drove it hard and fast and modded the crap out of it and COULDN'T break it. It took a deer on the interstate to destroy it, and I wouldn't mind having another one. I'm interested in seeing a 2012 Focus in person when it comes out. The photos on the Ford website look pretty impressive.

The older ones had all sorts of wonky stuff with them... broken rear control arms, crap fuel pumps, broken coil springs, random holes in engine blocks, faulty head units, and the list goes on and on...

Welcome to the ford focus. My cousin bought a used one with 70k miles on it and had to replace the fuel pump twice in the next 20k miles.

It's got a cool little gauge on there that says HEY, YOU INTAKE PIPE AND FILTER NEED REPLACED!

Sarcasm^^

Except when those gauges say they need replaced they have all ready been in 2x longer than they should have been.
