Scored crankshaft after gasket replacement?

The problem is with the rod bearing just like you said. The bearings overlapped, or spun and scored the crank. They are saying its pre-existing and that they did nothing wrong. They have insurance, but the shop owner says since they did nothing wrong he's not going to use it.

I've spoken with 5 mechanics I know and all say they messed something up and the story they're giving me sounds like BS. Not sure what I can do now....

If they changed the LIM gasket, 12 times outta 10 they dun goofed and ruined your rod bearings. It wasn't pre-existing. They ****ed up and they owe you a new engine.

Pre-existing my ass, only thing that will spin a rod bearing is fluid in the oil, be it coolant, water, gas, whatever.

they probably used the 3m roloc pads to make the job go faster...the aluminum oxide gets into the engine and destroys everything.

GM and every other manufacturer have TSB's that specifically state that the roloc pads are not to be used on internal engine components for this very reason.

if you pull the lower intake and find circular/swirl marks thats exactly what happened.

the only thing approved for internal engine gasket removal is razor blades and wooden/plastic scrapers.

i buy 100 packs of blades and use anywhere from 20-50 of em per engine dep on gaskets im replacing.
use the blade till it gets nicked/starts to scratch, toss and replace.

a gasket surface can be perfectly clean and flat yet the surface will be stained from the previous gasket so it may "look" dirty but its just material in the pores of the iron and that doesnt hurt anything.

coolant in oil doesnt cause scoring of the crank, it wipes the bearings pretty even across the face...abrasives/debris particles lead to scoring....
