SC snout removal

Alright, I know there are a lot of things about this out there, but my sc about is really stuck on there and I don't understand a few things.

Where can I hit with my rubber mallet? I'm kind of scared to hit towards the end or the pulley.

What can fit in the holes for prying it apart and not damage it?

Here is where I am

And I read somewhere that there is a way to do this without taking the alternator off but I can't get this bolt out.
It is loose all the way though

There is now a space that is almost big enough for a box cutter blade

I used James's method. Stick the square end of a 1/2" extension in the squares and fit something like a prybar in the remaning gap. I actually used a 1/4" extension instead of a pry bar, and twist. It will force it open. Worked like a charm for me.

Awesome. Everything is back together and I'm going to let it sit and dry before I fill it with oil. Probably tomorrow morning

Well I'm done for the night now. Tomorrow I will just fill it up and check for leaks. Let's just hope there's nothing else I missed

I put mine on the case and then slid the snout. But my supercharger isn't on my car so it was easier. Doesn't matter, just as long as you don't put a huge amount of it to the point where it gets all over the drive gears in there.
