Safe to Run 3.0 Again?

i just did a rebuild on my engine because i blew up my bottom end running the 2.8 pulley on pump gas, not knowing better. here is my mod list.
S1X, TOG, Trannyman Gen3, 3.0/2.8MPS, 42.5# Flow Matched, 105# Springs, ZZP Retainers & locks. INTENSE PCM, INTENSE OR Pushrods, INTENSE 3rd gen rocker arms, Comp Cams Lifters, MSP CAI, Magnaflow Cat, Thrasher Glasspack, Borla Pro XS, Walboro, Rollermaster Timing Chain set, Built Trans w/shift kit only 5k atm. ZZP Voltage Booster, RAM Air Hood, Casper's Timing Commander, ZZP Voltage Booster, Springtech Springs & KYB AGX, Poly Swaybar endlinks and bushings. i also have HP Tuners Suite and been doing a ton of reading. I think i can tune, even know i have never done it. There is no Wideband 02, which i was very surprised, after all the reading i did.

i have not had the car long enough to know if it is safe to go back to the 3.0, this car i bought with these mods installed already, but the supercharger rotors and bearings were junk and supercharger oil was getting by into the LIM. I am about 90% done with putting the car back together with a junkyard oldsmobile 88 bottom end. i also reinstalled all the mods. The only 2 pulleys i have are the 3.0 and 2.8. all honesty, i have no idea what kind of power or what she can handle. I don't want to knock my motor up after all the hardwork ive put into reinstalling the motor. I will have it completed as soon as i find a new TB, because i cracked the one i had when the hoist let go of the old engine in the car >.> (that was my fault)

Should be ok with a good tune, I want to know how your supercharger oil was gettin in the lim, unless the rotor pack plate some how cracked

i assumed it was, because when i took apart the supercharger, there was supercharger oil in the housing where the rotors were. the guy who owned before me had the computer already professionally tuned for the 3.0, but im assumuming that his tune isnt close enough to get a fine tune with the 3.0?

when i spin the pulley, you could hear the oil sticking on the rotors, almost like a bad bearing noise, except it sounded like sticky stuff >.> (just didnt sound normal at all). I did end up driving it untill the bearings literally broke off on the nose, cracked my 3.0 and ran without the SC for a while. it was my only car, and didnt have the money to fix it at the time

Dr. Phat was running pretty low timing to be able to run a 2.8 iirc.

Unless you're going to cough up the money for a good tune, race gas and slicks the 3.0/2.8 isn't really all that. I've tuned a regal with a s1x cam to 12's on a 3.3-3.4 setup.

If it's your daily driver, keep it reliable and invest in a scan guage/wideband good tune next.

Well if he has a tuner he shouldnt really need a scan gauge. When you get it all put back together, run it and SCAN FOR KR. very important.

thanks guys. dr phat left me a aeroforce interceptor 2 gauges. I will use those to scan for KR and watch the timing when i get the car going again soon. Im still looking for a TB to complete the install.... should i run stock TB? or should i go ahead and pick up a Northstar? I believe Trannyman opened up the inlet on my SC as well... but i can't be to sure untill i get something to measure the bore. I also picked up a fresh set of 103 plugs. what should i gap them at? i've read somewhere that .51 is a good size to gap them. where should i start?

Still need a wideband imo. I wouldn't run a cam without one. Put your N* money toward one.

you can guess fairly easily... it is rare that your maf sensor is that far off. I wouldnt do it, because I am not poor, but if you wanted to, the wideband would not be a critical yes or no at getting it running correctly.

im going to pick one of those AEM from ebay up. even know i could of ran the car withought it, it just seems like to good of a deal to pass up, says the people.

I'd listen to darkhorizon, but if you're going to get a wideband, that AEM on ebay sounds like a good deal.

It seems that whenever darkhorizon has something to say its always opposite of what everyone else thinks. Im not saying you're right or wrong, or that I am right or wrong. Its just odd... Not trying to ruffle any feathers in any way.

im going to have to agree with horizon with this one, seeing how the car was tuned with narrowband to run the 3.0 before for the amount of time the mods have been in place. it is not something that would stop me from getting this car going again... atleast untill i can afford the wideband to do a more precise tune. which will be with my next pay check :)

If you're going to have a car that modified with that much money into the motor, why wouldn't you spend a couple hundred more on a wideband to make sure you have it right? A wideband is cheaper than a motor swap. Just my 2 cents.

Whats more odd is the fact that many things have just became rules on this forum... and they seem to stem from nothing but rumor, and those rumors come from things people have done wrong/stupidly.

99/100 times with these cars, things are simpler than they seem, and yes your pulley is too small.

which is why i said i will be putting it in as soon as i can get it :P, i would think i could go without a few days without a wideband. i did say Baby it. the original owner went years without it on the track. but for now, i need something that will get me 1 mile down the street to work.
