We covered this., run what you want. Supercharger oil is not that expensive and works great considering it's in there for 10 years.

You can also get away with 89 octane. People have done it for years.

Again it's $20 for the correct stuff.

Get two of them, less than $20, 2-4 days probably to your door. Why even waste your time and effort wondering about other options that may or may not work as well as what Eaton calls for?

Anybody but ZZP, use them as a last resort. There shipping stinks, even when you buy a bunch of stuff it's same price almost to buy and ship one piece at a time.

Sounds like ZZP is run by the same guys who are a vendor for the 3/S community. I've been calling them out on their shipping for years. They always had an excuse and I came right back. I was a shipping manager and shipped probably 30,000 packages over a 4+ year period so I know how UPS works and how much stuff costs.
 
My first M90 had 200K+ on it when I bought the car and took the blower apart, one and only original owner had never changed the snout oil. Oil smelled nasty and was a bit dark, but was otherwise okay. Gears appeared to have very little wear. A new coupler and fresh oil and the blower continued to run great.

$20 for oil that performs that well and lasts that long? Seems like a great deal to me.

Cool. We did a group buy years ago and one of the members bought, I think it was 5 gallons of 605, bottles and caps. I had some in my storage and picked it up. I think we spent about 7.50 for 4 bottles.

GM doesn't make SuperChargers, Eaton does. Was there a tech bulletin 20 years ago from GM??????

Use the the right stuff is my advice. The first 8 ounces of synthetic supercharger oil lasted 100,000 miles, why not use the same stuff

Does someone actually have a link to this service bulletin? People keep bringing it up, but I've never actually seen anyone produce it. Some people say 5w30, some say 0w30, and this is the first time I've seen 0w20... which is it? This idea might possibly be just a myth/rumor.
 
I have had the pleasure of rebuilding many blowers using synthetic oils and anything other than the OEM blower fluid. Nye makes it and GM and Ford use it so use that. your blower will last a while but when do you want to change the blower? When they fail due to improper lubrication they typically take out the gears first and the bearings second. The gears used to start showing accelerated signs of wear and the rotors would also start to touch. The gears in the blower are meant to mesh in such a way as to have the most minimal amount of backlash (or the rotors touch). I used to buy GM Cartridges (rotor packs) from a guy named Ed Moran and adapt them to fit the Ford blowers when someone would drop other oils in their superchargers. They would fail faster since the Ford community of M90's are driven at over twice the blower speeds of GM cars in a lot of cases. Bottom line is use the correct fluid that is designed for PM gears. If you are in a pickle and have a leaking blower by all means use something, but as soon as you have a chance remove the snout reseal, and replace the snout seal if it's leaking there. Wash it out with a solvent and then use the anaerobic sealer to reattach the snout let it dry and then put the correct fluid in the supercharger. Lubricants are not dreamed up just to put something else on the shelf, this is specifically designed for Powered Metal gears, that's the whole point, the bearings are easily lubricated with just about any oil. The amount of pressure on the gears is huge, It takes about 60 HP to drive an M90 to about 13 psi, just for reference.
