I have 2 Gen II 3800s on engine stands in my garage. Has anyone ever put one in a Chevy S-10?
The truck is an '01 4x4 crew cab. Just a feeler thread for info, how to's and advice!:th_winking:

Thanks a million!

Not going to work.

You need GM metric for a series II.

A 4l60e will work.

So you'd want a trans/pcm/wiring harness type setup similar to a fourth gen F body with a 3800.

Not sure which years because the later years moved into DBW.

ive thought about it plenty. the 4 banger 5 spd will bolt right up to the 3.8. its what the samuri guys use to make there swap work iirc..problem is the trans is gonna go boom boom

I'm not worried about the bolt pattern. I can get an adapter to mount to trans. Just worried about PCM and harness.
I have both PCM's for each motor but, only 1 harness. Home is the place to get your
adapter plate! Check them out!

If they're automatic they have the 4L60E. I've heard of some people doing it in 2wd's, unsure about 4x4's. Most guys with 4x4's end up doing the vortec 350 swap or invest a lot of time to make the lsx engines fit. Most problems that occur are the oil pan and doing a proper rad/efan setup.

350 swap would be nice but, I have the 3800's already in my garage. I will check into the trans that I have WOT... Thanks

Nah! Decided against it. 5.3 in my truck would be a good swap. I did some digging the past couple weeks and found
a company that handles all these swaps and has all of the parts for it! S/C 3800 will be going in the sandrail!!

Still can't find anything for 3800 in an S-truck... If anyone finds anything, send it my way! Still wanting to do this

Thanks,
Tonka

LOL still can't decide? Honestly I'd suggest doing a 5.3 swap. Engines are cheap compared to the LS1,2,etc. stuff, tons of aftermarket support, and DAT SOUND.

I had this same idea, but was wanting to try a 5 speed out of a Fbody. the 4L60E out of a truck wont bolt up to a 3800, 3800s use a 60* bellhousing 4L60E from truck is 90*.

the s10 with the 2200 will bolt any of their transmissions to a 3800.. Just need to make sure the flexplate spacing is correct.

The manual s10 would probably be a bit easier to do a swap in, and there are a few different 5speeds you can put behind it, some stronger than others.

I was told the 4L60E will bolt up just fine...

I know the auto trans out of a 4.3 s-10 wont cuz the 4.3 is 90* bellhousing. I'll never understand why the 3.8 being a 90* V6 has uses a 60* bellhousing.

the s10 with the 2200 will bolt any of their transmissions to a 3800.. Just need to make sure the flexplate spacing is correct.

Idk if that could handle the power.
