Rustolium Tint Spray

I don't know if it's the EXACT same because those results look pretty good for just spraying and no clear or sanding. I know VHT wouldn't look half that good.

If you know what you're doing and the prep is good, the results can be identical. Hell, they're even the same price.

i know this thread is dead, but this is urgent
i tinted my tails with rust oleum and it was good and dark and i went to put clear coat and it totalyy ****ed it up the clear coat left like craters everywhere and took off the tint
does anyone have an idea how i can redo them??

Let them dry, sand the old stuff off with 400 until you get to the plastic...

then start over

Are you sure the clear "took off the tint?" Or did it just bubble or fisheye?

you prob didnt let the tint dry....or the clear you used didnt mix right with the rustoleum....prob the first scenario tho.

i had the rustolium............. sucked big time on the altezza lights............ can went in the trash!!!!!!1

no i let them dry boost. i waited how long it said on the can and then i did clear coat, the first coat of clear coat was fine then the second just destroyed it. i found a can of goof off and that gets it off easy enough but i ran out so i have to go get more today after work

used this and its something fishy with it, i tried to clear over it but it lifts the tint and makes it come off. so i tried it again same results. so i say vht is better because you can clear over it. i use the rest of the can on my 3rd brake light shroud lol its gloss black and i bet if i clear it it will start that lifting crap. so for those trying something different please stick to niteshades, learn from my mistakes and others.

I did my headlights with this stuff and cleared over it when the tint was still tacky. No problems, I just need to wet sand and polish them.

guys, heres the problem...

you never are supposed to mix different kinds or different brands of paint. One time that i used duplicolor paint on valve covers, then rustoleum clear, the clear wouldnt stick and took off the paint.....thing is, try and stick to the same brands of paint when your doing this stuff.

i have always used VHT tint with the duplicolor clear and never had any issues. Im sure if you used VHT tint with a VHT clear (not engine enamel clear) you would be fine.

and as far as VHT being sold at stores, Oreilys is the only place i have seen it at. someone said advance auto did, but idk

if it gets all white and hazy its ok it will dry clear....just use vht nite shades and duplicolor acrylic laquer clear.....that clear is amazing when wet sanded nice durable shine.....

well i got some more goof off and that burned right through that **** up, sprayed the first coat of tint on, next coat goes later, im only doin 2 this is much darker than vht
i might try that clear coat boost mentioned, but try it on a test surface first to see if it doesnt have a chem reaction like the last stuff

i decided one coat is dark enough for me on this
