Rust water coming from Evaporator?

Pulled the buick out of the garage yesterday and noticed some orange water around where the evaporator would be on the firewall. Yep. nice orange rusty color. I also noticed my A/C hasn't been as cold lately. I thought about getting one of those AC pro's with the gauge on it and see if it's low. I've NEVER seen anything like this before. Even googling didn't bring up much. Most of it was geared more toward house A/C units.

Hmm. I'll pop off the cover for the cabin filter and take a look when I get home. I know I don't have a build up of junk there. It's pretty clean and the car is always parked in the garage. shrug. I'll take a peek though. thanks.

was that puddle pretty much dead center the car at the firewall? thinking the heater hoses are leaking on the fire wall. if you got dex coolant, bingo, if not it could be rust from the firewall as it leaks down.

i had this leak ^^^^ you cant really see it as it leaks behind the pad on the firewall. heater hose was worn out and not sealing any more.

the ac parts are aluminum the pan is plastic and heater core are aluminum, aka dont rust. so how would rust come out that pan or its drain tube?

It's the green stuff. My i/c is green stuff too.

The spot is exactly where the water from the evaporator leaks. There isn't leaking anywhere either on the car that I can tell last night. Too hot to put my finger back down where the evap is.

There's barely ANY rust on the car either. I'm leaning more towards the blower motor area though.

thats just plastic too really, and it only blows the air into the hvac box via ducting. why the pass floor gets wet when the cowl fails.

When the drain on the a/c box gets clogged, the water backs up into the blower motor and rusts it out. Don't know if that's your problem but it happened to me. Your puddle could be from it suddenly unclogging?

not on a w body, the fan is a good 8 to 10 inches higher then the hvac box. and its on the pass side where the hvac box is dead center.

Found the issue. I was able to look down where the evaporator deal drips from the firewall and it's dripping on the PS rack which is starting to rust. That's where the rust colored water is coming from.

I'll eventually sand it down and toss some paint on it.
