running without S/C belt?

My idler exploded on me one time and I ran without a belt for like 2 weeks before I was able to get a new belt and idler my mpg went from 19 to 16 in town.
 


PE mode generally kicks in 30-40% throttle in stock gtp's. Then it commands an afr of 11-12, which actually could be in the 10's on a stock gtp if you were to hook up a wideband. You still have the maf sensor probably hitting a lower frequency vs. rpm than what it's used to, fuel trims will take car of that before PE, but it still could be off by a lot. Then there are countless other tables affected or thrown off by this, yeah you would most likely get worse mileage and cause possible harm if you don't drive with some awareness.
 
My supercharger locked up and i ran my car back to the shop without it and it was like driving an early model 4 cyl cavalier, why would you want to drive a gtp like that sell it and by a gt

When my original supercharger randomly sh*t the bed a few years ago, I had to run the car without a belt for a good 3 weeks before I slapped another blower on. It ran fine, however got worse mph. It sure was a pig...
 
I've been running without my belt on for about 6 months due to it running like sh*t when I got into the boost and gas prices(premium vs regular)... I can drive the crap out of it and it runs perfect... faster than it was with the supercharger hooked up lol. It definitely isn't going to hurt anything. Real world MPG's haven't changed any.
 
If your car was running bad with the blower belt on, then you had other issues.

With a low compression V6...I bet that thing is making 140 horse to the tire...
 
The supercharger must spin freely with the belt off or it will be a major restriction and not want to rev up past iirc 2500 rpm or so. Under high vacuum(low throttle) the engine will breath through the bypass valve. With low vacuum(high throttle), the bypass valve will shut and the air must move around the rotors. the rotors will spin at higher rev but they are still a big restriction because they are only letting air through as they spin.

I am well aware there are other issues.... Just got tired of sinking money into it.
And that's the fastest 140whp vehicle I've ever been in :th_laugh-lol3:

mods are: 2000 GTP: autolite 104's, 180 t-stat, cermax'd engine and transmission, shift kit, custom cai, 1.9 rockers, polished TB, ported blower, SD headers, zzp mps/3.4 pulley, Reptile tune:th_biggrin2:

What are the issues that make you run no belt? Too much knock?

If that's the case, toss a stock pulley on it.

Prove it. Take it to the track and if by some chance you don't break it after 5-10 runs and can provide us with a timeslip compared to a stock GTP then you will have proven us wrong, if not, don't go around giving bad advice.

sorry guy ive gotta do it im callin bullsh!z i pulled the belt off mine because my supercharger was locked up and i nearly got ran over it was such a pig.
 
Wow... did I get some attention! lol

My car was hitting 10* of knock at times... it was slow as heck (due to timing being pulled) and about to chip a piston... So MY CAR (I never said it was faster than a good running stock gtp) is faster now without the blower hooked up due to the issue...

My mods in my sig haven't changed... A stock pulley would just be a waste of money and time putting on... My mods easily support a 3.4, I just need to get it scanned and get the problem fixed (I'm guessing tune issue or lack of fuel). But like I said I just got tired of sinking money into it, so its my good running DD for now.

And break after 5-10 runs.... LMAO

So what BS flag is flying????
 


And It's def not a pig without the belt... But no it is absolutely no comparison to how fast it ran for the short period of time it was running correctly... would still probably outrun a gt though.

And bluegtp91... The real problem with my car is I had minichopper port my blower... you should get a kick out of that lol

What did the blower look like when you got it?

Because what i recall from his work, it was quite nice.

I know a ported blower isn't necessary, but it could potentially help lower temps and thus KR.
It looked nice for sure! He rebuilt it as well (put bearings in it) and they went out after 50 miles... but thats another story... lol

I just remember Blue having a little feud with minichopper... lol
