Hey guys. I had my amp and subs taken out of my car awhile back but im wanting to hook them back up. I had it professionally done when i had them first installed but i got raped on labor costs. i wanna do it myself an i know i can do it. just need a little assistance on running my wires from my amp and sub in my trunk to my stock radio in the front (my aftermarket stereo was just recently stolen ) step by step instructions on how-to would be much appreciated. thanks a lot, hope to get this done this weekend!

Ok, I just did all of this a few days ago.

The best way to run the power wire from the battery to the amp is along the passenger side at the bottom there is this rectangular foam thing with wires coming out, take the foam out and poke a small hole in that and feed the wire into the car from the outside. This is kind of difficult, but it is a good way. then run that wire along the passenger side under the carpet, take the door sill off first, then back and under the back seat and into the trunk.

The remote wire to turn on the amp can interfere with the power cable sometimes so they are supposed to be separated, i don't know how big of an issue this is, but anyways i ran that along with the right and left channel rca cables along the driver side in the same way.

As far as getting the trim off to get to the head unit there are two screws by the carpeted part of the cover under the steering wheel, take those out and take that part off, then you have to pry the trim around the dash off, it just clips in. I used a panel remover tool i got from napa for like $5, it worked pretty well. Then un-hook the fog light switch b/c that is still connected. There are two screws that hold the radio in and that is it.

let me know if u have any more questions, i'm still working on mine but i think i have it pretty much figured out. I still need help with mounting the sub and the amp tho.

buy a aftermarket radio from bestbuy or where ever. just make sure its new. cause it will give directions on how to hook the wires up correctly.

buy the book from autozone to know the correct wires your hooking it up to. i have a 98 gtp and i had to hook up 2 aftermarket radios. 1st one got stolen.

the only hard part of hooking up the subs and amp is basically doing the wireing to the radio

how difficult would it be to wire up my amp and sub to a stock radio. i dont feel like buying aftermarket, kinda wanna keep it stock now that i had my aftermarket stolen...

to put a amp on a stock deack u have to get a rca inter face it will add rca wires to the stoc deck then u just run a postitve (from batt) and run the rca wiers along with a remote wire to the amp wire them in and ground it add subs and a box and your done

Sounds simple enough.. i will be trying this once i finish my sub box and figure out how to mount the subs/amp.

Going to make a custom sub box for a couple of 10" Rockford Punch subs i bought for my old car a few years ago.

Do you have a link to where you bought your rca interface/where you ran your positive line?

The remote wire is simply a 12v signal just like the power wire. They won't interfere with each other. Running those wires along the same side as the RCA's can lead to interference. I run them all on one side out of laziness and have never had a problem. I will however run the rca's for my cabin speakers on the opposite side once install the 4 channel amp and new speakers.
