running a 3.25" pulley

I have been following the thread about the ebay headers and want to buy them in the next day or so. I am not going to need a tune to run these headers correct? From my understanding these are just simple bolt on mods but please correct me if i am wrong. My goal is to run an 3.25" pulley and i have about 500 bucks now to start modding so i want to do that correctly. I plan on the headers, new colder spark plugs, wires, 180 t-stat, and FWI. Will those be enough mods to not have too much KR with a 3.25" pulley. Now, about KR, how do i measure how many degrees i have? Do i have to buy a scanner of some sort. If it makes any difference i work at a honda dealership so would they have any scanners i could use? and lastly, how do i go about getting my pcm tuned, that is, who is good, can i do it myself, etc.

You should really invest in a scanner like an Aeroforce so you can keep on eye on things all the time. No one can say whether or not you can run a 3.25 with the mods you listed. I highly doubt you can safely. You may want to add rockers and/or an intercooler to that list. As far as a tune try to find someone close to you that can tune it.

not enough to run a 3.25 with any good amount of timing. stick with a 3.4 for now, if youd have rockers you could run the 3.25 MAYBE.

yea i wasnt sure if i was being a little to optimistic in hopeing that i could run a 3.25 with the mods i plan. i will just plan on running a 3.4 because i just want some more performance without having to blow to much coin...if it would take rockers or intercooling or camming it out to get to a 3.25 than that is a little more than i want to get into for now...it is my dd while i am in college so i just want it to be a little more fun till i get out of school nd can buy something i really want. Is it possible to do the mods i plan with the 3.4 for around 500 bucks?

I'm running a 3.25 with the following mods.

Custom HP Tuners Tune by Green Bastard Performance
Intense Modular Supercharger Pulley System 3.4, 3.25 (3.25 Currently Installed)
Custom Magnaflow Exhaust
Denso Lead Tolerant 02 sensor
ZZP Red Poly Dogbone Engine Mounts
Autolite 104's
Hypertech 180* Thermostat
Fender well Intake (Homemade)
Green Bastard Performance Ported Supercharger
Green Bastard Performance Ported Throttle Body
SS Autochrome Headers with 1-3/4" Primary's and 3" Down-Pipe

Currently only seeing 1.4* of KR but i believe it can be tuned out. If not i'll mod some more until i achieve 0* of KR.

I think the ported TB & Supercharger helped me to be able to get down to the 3.25 pulley. Do all of the things you have planned above and you can definitely achieve the 3.4" you just gotta see how your car reacts to get smaller. Every car acts different to modifications.

get a set of rockers and i bet youll be at your goal.

im thinking stock (16*).

thanks for all the help...however, no one addressed the issue if i am going to need a tune for the headers...which i am certain i dont but i just want to cover my bases....i am probably going to get the headers before i throw on a smaller pulley.
