Hey everyone,

I need some help trying to figure out whats up with my Grand Prix. Its an 01 3.1 liter engine. But basically whenever I start using A/C or heat the RPMs stay stuck at 1500. Then there are other times when I start the car up and it will shoot up to 2000 RPMs. Have any of you had these issues before? What's wrong and how can I fix it if you have?

Thanks!

vac leaks cause un metered air, and yes will raise your rpms. also the a/c vents are vac operated, so your demading vac pressure the car dont have to offer any more.

check all you vac lines for cracks or dead rubber connectors.

you can also while the car is running spray carb cleaner around the engine, and listen for the rpms to jump up or down. if it fluctuates, your leak in in the are you last sprayed.

My vacuum leak was the egr tube it had a hairline crack where it connects at the intake. Trip to Ed's- Fixed.....
