RPMs bouncing when cruising

Im driving along on flat level interstate at and the RPMs will sometimes start boucning like 100-200 RPMs on the needle. I also feel it in the seat. Its a very rythmic pulsation, like a sine wave or something. I give it some gas, and it may clear and not come back, or it might return. If i take no other actions and just hold steady it will also clear itself up after a short period of time. It comes and goes throughout my entire trip. Its just one of those things that is annoying. Has anyone solved this problem before? what was it?

200+ K trans with unknown history that "needed" a new filter and lucas trans additive to move?

Yeah, I'd say it has untold issues everywhere.

From the probable stripped fourth gear splines to the possible clogged TCC solenoid.
 
Often this is ignition related. Might even be a dirty maf sensor. If your plugs/wires aren't current.. do them. Clean the TB and maf.
