rough rideing gxp

I just bought a 06 gxp. I know they have a stiff suspension. When I hit a decent size bump though feels like suspension bottoms out. Is this normal or do you think its been modified. It does sit pretty low, but I know that the gxp was lower than other grand prix.
thanks

how many miles do you have?

I've only been in one GXP. I test drove one looking to buy it, but it didnt. Other then the interior was kinda beat up and they wouldnt deal. It rode pretty rough. I know it has
18s, bilsteins and its on the sport tunned side. It was almost as stiff as my lowerd GTP.

You might just need to get new struts

Is it common for struts to wear out at 61000miles. Is their any where I can find stock ride hight to determine if it has been lowered. Coil springs are also red , is that stock? Just wondering if I need to replace springs to. I do like the look of it the way it sits now. What are some good struts and springs to get? I'm not going to be able to live with it bottoming out, stiff ok, bottoming out not.
thanks for any advise

i dont think the stock springs are red. the look to be blue per this picture:

My struts arent yellow either. Dont know why i didnt think of that before either. I guess all stock bilstien struts would probably be yellow.

any suggestions on how to figure that out? Tried to post a picture of just the front fender and tire but couldnt figure out how to

I talked to a guy at ssc inc. today. He said that it sounds like i'm hitting bump stops and need to cut them down some. Does this sound like a good solution or just a quick fix to a bigger problem? He says this is normal on lowered cars and causes no other problems or damage by doing this

you should check to make sure they werent trimmed previously. its possible youre riding on them, but you wont know unless you look. most lowering springs come with directions on how to modify them. if the installer was lazy and didnt trim them then its possible that you are riding on them because of the decreased travel your strut now has because of the lowering springs.

this will not cause the car to ride rough all the time, but only over bigger bumps. the bump stops are there so that your strut doesnt hit metal when it bottoms out.

Car rides good except for bigger bumps which it bottoms out on. I'm going to check this out today or tommorow then. Is their anyway of trimming these without takeing struts apart? If not will i have to get another alignment when done?
thanks for your help

if youve got small hands you can probably trim them while they are on the car with a razor knife, but its gonna take some squeezing in there between the spring coils.
