try unplugging the MAF sensor.
Check for vacuum leaks, cheak all the vacuum lines for breaks

Not nit picking, I was able to read through what you meant. For the future though..this may make it easier for others.
Terminology.
Crank, the physical turning of the engine via the starter.
Running, when the fuel/air in the cylinders ignite and the engine turning itself.
Starting, the process of cranking until the engine is running.
