Rough Acceleration in 2001 Grand Prix GT - Help!!

Hello, I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT. I have been experiencing some rough acceleration (Tach. goes up and down, and the car chugs) when I am going on an incline while I am in D. The check engine light has come on, and I just got it scanned. The only error code that came up was an EVAP Error. My mechanic asked me to put the car in 3 gear, and drive up an incline to see if it continued to rough accelerate. If it didn't chance are it would be the Transmission Torque Converter solenoid locking-up. Well, I did the test in 3rd. gear, and the problem is still happening. Can anyone give me any other reasons why this would still be happening?? I have also installed new plugs and wires, and cleaned the MAF sensor as well. Could it be another sensor?? Please let me know your thoughts.
