Rev's at start up

Hi guys,

I have a question for all the knowledgable members at Grand Prix Forums :). Everytime I start my car the RPM's rev up to about 2500 and then bounce up and down between 1200 and 2500 repeatedly until I put the car in gear ( either drive or reverse ). After the car is in gear the issue stops.

Can anyone offer any insight into what this might be?

The car is a 2003 GP GTP. It has 120,000 km ( Im in Canada ). It has done this for a while though. Probably started around 80,000 km.

99% sure its the idle air control valve. you can try and clean it first with some carb cleaner. if not then jusr replace it.

Excellent. Thanks alot man. I really appreciate it. I have some sensor cleaner I used on the MAF a while ago. Im going to hit it with that and see what happens.
