Resetting Taps?

Timing

New member
So ive been having a torque converter lockup situation sense replaced my trans witha junkyard unit. Apparently your supposed to reset your tap(transmission adaptive pressure) everytime you replaced a transmission or solenoids. Anyone know how i can go about this? Can it be done via aeroforce or only with a tech2?

Come to think of it, the car was doing similar befor the new trans but after it was tuned. Nick used a file from another 04 compg to get a base to tune off of and im guessing that it was using the learned tap from the other car causing the issue im having.

Unplugging the battery for an hour will ensure taps is reset. Although you may have already done that.

Are you positive of this? Ive read otherwise that its done via a tech2. Obv the battery was unplugged when swapping the transmission out.

Yes that will reset taps. Like I said you probably already did that, so that may not be what you're looking for. A scan tool can reset it as well.

I just read that the procedure to reset them are the d/c the pos terminal and turn the key foward for 1 minute. Then rehook up the pos terminal. This forces the pcm into relearn mode and all the taps data will be cleared. Seems like unplugging the neg for an hour would do the same but maby not.... Ill try this and see what happens. Who knows maby there is something wrong in the tune or the tcc sol or torque converter is bad. I also thought about my tps being the culprit but looking at the tps % when it bogs down, the % doesnt move.

Maf is brand new delphi.

Engine is bogging down at 2100ish rpm at different speeds and gears. More when cold and more at load(aka going up hills or holding brake)

you sure it's the transmission? To help rule out the TCC, set your foot on the brake pedal and slowly push (enough to turn the lights on but not slow you down). If the symptoms go away, it's most likely TCC.

Positive your map and vacuum lines are ran right?

Bogging that you're describing seems more related to something like that. And not the trans

Shayne.. have Nick send me your current bin. I'll take a look and quickly compare it to your original to see if there's anything in the trans programming that appears to cause it.

Since you mention it began after a different bin was introduced, that merits reviewing the files.

Alright bill thanks

Do you have any way to monitor your LTFTs and STFTs? That would help a LOT in ruling out the engine.

Pretty sure engine is ruled out, i can duplicate it by pressing in brake and and setting rpms at 2100 at all speeds and tp. Doesnt do it at any other rpm.
