Replacing upper engine mount bracket.

Hey guys, while in the process of doing a tuneup on the grand Prix . I am doing the engine roll method... I loosened the dog bone on the drivers side, and noticed that the bracket on the engine . ( piece of **** pot metal) anyway it looks straight forward except for the coolant temp. sensor that is in the way of one of the bolts. One of my questions is, what size socket do I need to remove the sensor?

Also thinking about buying the wizaired intake and am wondering if the iat sensor needs to be lengthened. I see that its relocated..

Thanks in advance for your help..

I assume you have a Series II engine? The IAT should reach since the instructions for installing the Wizaired do not say anything about needing an extension. The socket needed should be 3/4 or 19mm for the sensor.

Yes it is a series 2.. And thanks for ur help.. I just ordered the zzp CAI and am now hoping it will work. I just installed ported throttle body and tb spacer and am wondering it will all fit.

are you tuned for the TB? if not its not gonna run well at all.

tb spacers are junk, send it back and get your money back.

No not tuned for it.. And I didn't read on their site that it needed to be, although my plan was to get a custom tune..

My current mods are cam, tog headers, double roller ti.ming chain, high flow cat, SLP cat back, 3.4 pulley,#130 springs with a dhp tune

your best to take it off if its on, and not use it till the pcm's tuned for it.

and the tb spacer is a total waste. it does nothing. unless its being used for nitrous or meth, or a th adapter plate.

best to not read what zzp says and believe it.

Jeez this throws a wrench in my plans.. Should I send my PCM back to them?

The ZZP box looks like it is smaller than the Wizaired, so you should be fine.

to who? zzp? they dont have the best canned tunes. if your plans are to get a in car tune, save the new TB till your getting re tuned. the extra air will change the maf readings and the engine wont like it much till its tuned for it.

id send the spacer back if you have no other plans then just a spacer in mind.

Thanks for ur help Scotty..it sucks that I have everything installed.. I'm thinking I might get a canned tune until I can find someone in my area that knows how to tune these things..its not my daily driver so I'm not hard pressed to take it out..

your mods will run somewhat ok on a stock tune. but that tb can really f with things. some say its not worth the effort, gains are minimal ive heard too.

Its a comp can I got from 3800 perf. 6 years ago. I don't remember the exact specs. Middle of the road cam.

Cam is an extreme energy L67 can from comp cams..
Duration at.050=210 degree intake/220 degree exhaust
Intake lift=.320(.512 lift with stock rockers
Exhaust lift=.320(.512 lift with stock rockers
Lobe separation=115

a ported tb isnt gonna change fueling much. even going from a 99+ tb and maf sensor to a ported 97 tb with the 99 sensor didnt put trims too far off.
the dia of the maf sample area isnt any larger so the maf will be pretty close....

now if its a ported tb with an external lq4 (or any not stock junk, like a 99maf in a 4" tube, etc) then youll need to change tables.

important thing is to never beat on your car after a batt disconnect/hard reset. the farther off your tune is the pcm will adjust for it, but it needs time to figure out how far off it is and bring trims into line...but the ported tb with the oem type maf sensor in the oem location should be fine.

Hey turbo thanks for the info. And thanks to Scotty and everyone else..

And sorry I should have been more descriptive about my mod at the beginning of the thread..

keep in mind that the oxygen sensor is a "trusted" sensor (as is the tps/maf/map/ect/iat). that means that the pcm ASSumes that its fine, even when it may not be.

if your o2 sensor has over 50k or youve burned oil/coolant then the sensor is likely skewed and no longer switching at stoich.
stay away from bosch, ive had way too many odd issues with em...denso/ngk/delphi sensors only.
