Replacing Front Factory Speakers

Kaiser Pontiac

So, my front speakers are rather meh sounding, was thinking about just replacing the front two since there's deals going on around this time of year. What's a good recommendation for sub-$45 for two? And, I'll need 5 1/4, correct? Also, what does it take to replace the originals, pretty easy? Never done anything with sound systems before so, noobie.
Also, my car is non-Bose.

As far as replacement goes. I think all that has to be done is pull the door panel off, unbolt the speaker and unplug it. That should be all that's needed.

Yeah, that's what I did with the ones I took off my parts car. But, was wondering if the new ones would just, like, bolt in or something. :P

Did your car come with the Bose stereo? Mine did, and I purchased Rockford Fosgate punch components to replace the factory separates in the front. When I went to install the woofers, there was some interference with the baffle that came installed in the door. Apparently the plastic baffle for the non-bose stereo is different than the bose one. I had to trim mine with a dremel tool to get the woofer to fit, but it wasn't much. Be prepared for that FWIW

Nope, non-Bose. Well, a little trimming with the 'ol Dremel doesn't bother me much, thanks for the info though. I ordered those JBLs, came in the mail, so I'll see what they sound like next week after finals when I put them in. Still deciding on whether on not to order the 6x9s JBL GTOs to go in the rear...
