Replacement time looking for advice

My trannys not so healthy, has 100K on it but it has some nice symptoms that make me think its the valve body? It will often refuse to shift until high rpms even at half throttle, a good strong downshift will make it slip to rev limiter, and it will slip on medium throttle shifts, and it almost always bangs on all shifts. The kicker is WOT it feels decent lmao.

Anyway not sure how to diagnose a tranny and if I can easily repair it so I am assuming I have to replace it(unless someone thinks otherwise?)

I found many local trannys in the $300 range with 80-100K mileage and they work supposedly :) (one from a trusted member)
I found one with 5K miles on a rebuild for $900obo with shipping
and Im wondering if Im gonna spend that much if I should try to pony up for one from a company like TEP or a used BUILT one?

The car is stock now but will definitely get a 3.5 and headers this month, and possibly ssic rockers and 3.3-3.4 down the road.
So end all power might be 3.3 ssic 1.9rr and exhaust

I also drive like a total dick wad. I hit wot 1-2 shifts like 10 times a day, and once a week I do a few racing runs or 3-1 or 4-2 downshifts.

so if my power estimates are 300 i might need a tranny for 400 ? Idk im looking for nice alternatives to spending 1700 bucks but i dont want to have to change tranny more than once if I can help it.
Thanks for advice guys

If you plan on keeping the car and/or modding further I would just do it right the first time and spend the money getting a trans from TEP. There's always a chance with junkyard trans that you take the time to swap and then realize the junk trans needs work and have to take it out and theres no telling how times you'll do this until u find a good one...that will still have miles on it.

Right I guess thats not what im asking

Im asking if TEP is the best aftermarket tranny for a 300hp car
in terms of fast cheap and reliable i want reliable and cheap im not going fast.

so other than TEP should I consider other brands? also anyone have a feeling about buying a USED built tranny from a demod ?

Well last time I checked ZZP outsourced their trans build. As much as TEP comes up I have yet to hear anybody that hasn't been satisfied with his service so....

Sure if the price is right and the owner is able to provide proof as to what's in it I wouldn't mind buying a upgraded used trans from someone but the price would have to be right for me to take that chance.

Ed.. take it from a fellow dickhead driver.. if you have power and beat the trans like that, it likely will die sooner than you want.

Price/value is up to you though.
