Well I just got finnished replacing the lower and upper intake gaskets,Got it all fired up and the elbow that goes into the intake is leaking. It is leaking around the hole and O-ring. I can see the water comming from ther. And when I shut it down I can see and hear it hissing out of the hole that the elbow fits into. It is not pouring out but it is enough to cause it to drip under the car. Also I replaced the t-stat and a new housing gasket, and it is lightly spraying out between the matting surfaces there. Has any one else ever experianced coolant spraying from the t-stat housing ,with a new gasket change?
Oh well I guess tomarrow I will pull the tentioner assymbly back off and try two more new elbows. Is there any tricks to ensure the elbows seal up and dont leak from new? thanks....Hal

When putting the new coolant elbows in, did you wiggle them in? Did you make sure the O rings didn't roll as you're putting the coolant elbows in?

Ok well I took the alt/tentioner bracket back off to fix the leaking uper elbow and sure enough the O ring in the intake side was roled out, smashed and torn. I intalled two new ones and put it back together and checked and no leaking. I drove the car several times and rechecked for leaks ,and found none.
Today after driving to work and back home I looked under and saw fluid dripping, I poped the hood and checked the elbows and no leaking. i started looking and saw it was wet on top of the area where the crank pulley is. i kept looking, I jacked the car up and it was dripping from around the bottom of the crank pulley. So I started looking around the bottom of the water pump nd sure enough I could see the damn thing dripping from behind the water pump pulley. It couldnt have been leaking before so that I could have changed it while half the engine was torn apart.
So tell me I dont need to pull the tentioner and elbows to replace the water pump?....Hal

two 13mm bolts that you get wtih a deep socket through the pulley. one at 12, one at 6. Be gentle when you lay it on the oil pressure sensor.
