I am absolutely baffled at how hard they make this on the GXP. I finally removed the stupid ****in cross bar (which was rusted down) and now the battery is wedged in place with hardly a good way to get it out. Any tips or recommendations on loosing it up and getting it the hell out of there? It's really beginning to piss me off haha.

Seriously though... I'm at college and really don't have access to many tools. I suppose I could go over to the hardware store but right now all i got on me is an adjustable wrench and a hammer. it seems like its kind of clamped in, i was just fooling around trying to pry it out and couldn't manage to do it.... maybe I'm missing something here.

There is a clamp on the front, you need a 13mm and an extension.
is a socket and extension really necessary or is there a way to ghetto rig it out? just because I need my car working asap (preferably tomm morning) and being at college (many of my friends don't have cars here) i don't know when the next time i'll have a chance to get out to the hardware store.

Only way to rig it really would be to jump the car with the new batter, untill you can get the old one out.

I'm not trying it right now cause its dark and i have other stuff that needs to be done.
I'm gonna go out there tommorrow morning, I was just wondering if it was even possible to just pull out without doing anything more or if I'd be wasting my time.
and I more meant to ghetto rig the battery out.... getting the car started isn't gonna do me much good with a **** battery. i have AAA so i can get a tow if i need it, but i would rather not have a shop do a simple job and charge me an outrageous price.

There is no way to get the battery out with out taking off the hold down. If you cant buy a 13mm and extension then I guess you have to pay the shop to do it.
i'm just gonna try to shove a wrench down there and get it. what side of the battery is this located on? I'm not the most "handy" person in the world so give me a break guys.

To the guy that said jump it my battery is literally ****ed. it took over an hour to finally get jumped last time and its in a parking space between two cars (and being on campus means as soon as they move the spots will likely be filled) so jumping is not even really an option.
Anyways to the other guy. I don't have any tools. My dad does and I use them on occasion but I'm obviously not going to bring those with me. And I'm not too "lazy" to do it tonight. I have a huge project (yes some of us do this thing called college) that I'm working on and my car is parked 10 mins away. Plus its dark and I only have a small flashlight available and I'd rather just do this when I can see (aka after my 830 class tomm when I'll be walking past my car). There's really no need to be so rude about it, I'm just asking a couple questions.

Well no kidding you wouldn't bring your dad's tools with you but you should have a decent set that you can get at home depot or something for like 20 bucks. Oh I'm sorry that you are going to college... Wait a second I am too.... All you need to see is a small flashlight when you are looking at the battery. I am not trying to be rude but like someone stated earlier, you are asking so many questions about everything that its like you want us to hold your hand. Sometimes you just got to figure things out the hard way.
