Removing old pulley

Okay, so I'm looking to remove the old pulley from my supercharger and replace it with an MPS, and I was wondering if there was a cheaper way to get off the older pulley than by renting the M90 pulley puller. I'm a poor college student, so anything on the cheap end is definitely a plus.

You'll ruin the shaft with a 3 arm puller.

Some people use a press to remove it, seems to work. Other than that, you need to do it the correct way.

What kinda press are we talking about here and how would you go about doing this?

(unfortunately there's no place locally that has the tools necessary to pull the pulley safely and I don't want to pay shipping and deposit on the puller which I'm only gonna use once).

Sounds like to me you need to wait on putting the MPS on then. Sorry to be so blunt but if moneys tight the last thing you need to worry about is modding your car. Unless you find someone local who happens to have a puller they are willing to lend you..you can either destroy your shaft using the wrong tool or wait.

$12 gasket, $12 in coolant, time and effort. Isn't that closing in on the $30 to rent? Not saying it's not the way for you, merely rationalizing it. I've had friends that drove 30 miles for gas that was .03 cheaper per gallon, reality was...they paid more due to the trip etc.

Put up a post in the wanted section. Maybe you can find someone local who will do it for a six pack.

Already pulling off the supercharger since I have about $1000 in car parts sitting in my living room getting ready to go into the GP (cam, headers, valve springs, mps, etc etc etc)

If you already have spent $1000 on parts then $30 to rent a pulley puller isn't to bad especially since it'll be done the right way.

not likely.

you live in a hot spot for this forum, id post up a wanted post, maybe some one local will meet up with you and swap it for ya, or rent it to you, if you pay shipping both ways, and such.

search youtube for how to remove a M 90 pulley. that way you will see what the puller looks like.

man, theres a meet next week in plainfeid NJ, post in that thread see if any one has a puller they can bring. there guys coming from pa and all over NJ.

Just rent a puller or post in the local section. If you have $1000 in parts waiting to go one you should have factored in that cost to rent a puller. Unless you can find a press or risk damaging the snout and ill cost you more then $30 to replace that guaranteed. Sorry for not showing you any pity.
