Removing Manifold Heat Shield.

To prevent oil buildup and possible fire. I am planning on canging my valve cover gaskets this weekend as well. Why are the shields there? Besides collecting oil sludge. :th_biggrin2:

You can also get some coated and ported manifolds...they are way cooler than stock temp. wise and flow a lot better...and you won't need the covers...I took mine off when I got my car but that was just me...

ceramic coating out of a spray can? If thats what you mean then thats not much better than hi temp paint...real ceramic coating has to be done with a special process

Negative. They make a actual ceramic coating you have to use a spray gun for then bake it. Not spray paint.

those heat shields are garbage, i tossed mine when i did my top swap, makes changing plugs that much easier. My ceramic coating on my plog burnt off and now has surface rust, waste of $$ imo

Well they didnt do it properly or they didnt ceramic coat, just high temp painted it. A proper ceramic coating job will not burn off.

oh definitely, any paint or coating job would be way better from a shop, i was just saying zzp didn't do such a great job
