Remote Start Issues

Don't know exactly where to post this, but my 2008 GP GXP remote start just stopped working. When I lock the doors and hit the start button it acts like it wants to start, but nothing happens. I've enabled and disabled it a few times, but nothing. Any thoughts? This is the factory remote start system.

Is your check engine light on on the dash when your car is running?

If it is on for any reason even for a loose gas cap it automatically disables the remote start.

I searched the forums and found your answer after I posted the question, but thank you for your help. And, yes my check engine light is on for my gas cap. Hopefully it's just my gas cap?

Did not know that about the tune. Hopefully I don't have to tear into it further to fix this gas cap issue. They put all this emissions crap on the car and it fails within 50K, what's the point? Bad thing is, I used to work for the EPA in an engine R&D test cell.

Michelle,

Car has been decent, but the traction control and abs issues are starting to wear on me. Plus the two oil pan gaskets, multiple brake jobs, tires, gas cap, and burned out interior lights. I can't believe a newer 2008 vehicle can have 3 burned out console lights, two of which seem nearly impossible to replace without damaging the plastic. I have kept up on the maintenance, would hate to know what happens to one that doesn't.

Just curious, but why two oil pan gaskets? If it is because you keep loosing oil, pretty good chance it is the DoD. Also in the tune you can opt to remove the DoD completely out which you may loose a few miles per gallon, but won't be burning oil. Deal with it is when the DoD activates, it is still oiling the four "inactive" cylinders along with the four firing cylinders. When the DoD is deactivated you now have a cylinder loaded up with oil.
