Relplacing front seat upholstery

I have new Pontiac upholstery for my 2004 GTP, and have no idea how to take apart the buckets enough to install them. Do any of you have instructions or videos or anything about how to do this?

There is a back panel on the passenger side I don't know how to get off. There is a lever on each side for tilting the seat back forward that I don't know how to get off, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

take the seat out of the car and there should be clips on the underside of the lower seat, thats all i know

That's a start, anyway. I didn't know if they could be replaced while keeping the seats in the car or not. Thanks!

Anybody else with more specific directions or obervations? I'm at a loss as to how to remove some of the hardware and plastic on the bucket seats that go over the fabric. Thanks!

Oh jeez. Good luck, doesn't sound like fun. Please post pics as you do it?! I'm very interested to see how you do it and what it turns out like...

Sorry this took a while. There are two bolts (Star type) in the back frame rails of the buckets. Take them out. There is nut holding the seatbelt on, take that off. Unhook the electical connection under the seat. The front of the seat is held by hooks at the end of the rails. Raise the back of the seat up and unhook it. Remove the seat.

Removing the old covers and replacing them is like Scotttydogs said, kind of self explanitory. The end result on mine is not exactly perfect, but looks good to me.

I had/have a tan interior and replaced the seat covers with black. I think it looks really cool. Tan seatbelts and headrests, tan carpet, black stock accents on the dash and doors, etc.

you do the back seat as well or just the fronts? any pics?

i recently swapped my all my seats out. i had light gray, now have dark gray seats, with the light gray seat belts and the rest of the trim is light gray. a little color combo seems to go a long way.

I didn't replace the back, just tucked the new over the old. I may tackle it at some time, but the back doesn't get used much and it looks OK.

Wow, I've always loved the look of light and dark gray together!

Let's see if this works. Not the best picture, just one I happened to have in my camera..

Anyexcuse, seats look good!! Where did you get your covers?
thanks

Thanks! I got extremely lucky and found them through Craigslist, brand new, for $50. I'm not sure where the people I bought them from got them. They had sat in a barn or garage and had to be washed first because they smelled a little, but that was no problem. I've since sold the car because I needed the money, so I won't be posting here much anymore. Good luck and God bless!
